Claudette Dugbartey-Smith, Educator at Summerwind Trails Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mathematics education.
An educator of more than two decades, Mrs. Dugbartey-Smith currently teaches at Summerwind Trails School in Calimesa, California. In her role since 2021, she also serves the school as chair of the Mathematics Department, team lead of House System and a member and administrator of the School Site Council. In addition, she also dedicated time to site technology coaching beginning in 2022. Mrs. Dugbartey-Smith builds off earlier teaching experience at Mountain View Middle School from 2018 to 2021, Diamond Bar High School for 10 years and Chino High School for six years. To prepare for her career, she earned a Bachelor of Science in applied mathematics with a concentration in statistics from the University of California, Riverside in 1999. She also achieved a master’s degree from Claremont Graduate University and a professional development certification from the Ron Clark Academy in 2021.
Skilled in her teaching and coaching abilities, Mrs. Dugbartey-Smith is honored to have won five national championships as a high school cheerleading and songleading coach and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Upon reflection, she attributes her success to her versatility and flexibility, as well as her energy that comes from her passion for teaching and making a difference in people’s lives. She hopes that her gift of influence can help students succeed. Furthermore, her respect for education came from her parents, as education is what led her father to immigrate to the United States from Ghana and what her mother always preached was the key to success in this country.. Looking toward the future, Mrs. Dugbartey-Smith plans to continue her own education and attain an administrative credential. She was recently accepted as an instructional coach for technology in her district, and she hopes to help other teachers grow by building relationships and partnering with them on how to incorporate technology into their current curriculum.
