With over 30 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Lambert is a proven expert in the field of education. She is a founding principal of the Metropolitan Architectural Practice (MAP) in San Francisco, California, which was founded in 2004. Additionally, she has served as a professor in the architecture division at the California College of the Arts since 2016, having originally joined the institution as an adjunct professor in 2001. Prior to her current appointments, Ms. Lambert also founded Face Architecture Design and Graphics, where she worked from 1990 to 2003.

Throughout her career, Ms. Lambert has specialized in cultivating the creativity of her students, with a focus on architecture, interior design and drawing. In her own creative pursuits, she has been featured as a contributor and author of numerous articles in the New York Times, California Home+Design, C Magazine and Architecture Magazine. She is particularly proud of her ongoing project of 20 years, an original, collaborative research project called “No Place Like Utopia.” The research conducted for this project will be used to create a documentary film and book about Gregory Ain, a notable Los Angeles architect. Well regarded for her contributions in the field, Ms. Lambert was honored with an Award of Merit from the Napa County Landmarks Board in 2020 and took part in the Leibrock Fellowship for Universal Design in 2019.

Before embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Lambert pursued her own formal education, beginning with her time at the University of Minnesota, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in interior design in 1984. She subsequently continued her studies at the University of California, Los Angeles and achieved a Master of Arts in architecture and urban design in 2000. In addition to her academic credentials, she holds a license in architecture from the California Board of Architectural Examiners. As part of her dedication to her profession, Ms. Lambert also remains affiliated with the International Interior Design Association, the Interior Design Educators Council, the American Institute of Architects and the San Francisco Art Institute.

Over the course of her career, Ms. Lambert has largely attributed her success to her dedication and belief that the design industry can actively improve the lives of others. To wit, she naturally gravitated toward a career in design, holding true to her motto: “Everybody is creative and has wonderful ideas.” She is particularly fond of refurbishing and renovating legacy properties and restoring them with new life. In the coming years, Ms. Lambert looks forward to finishing her ongoing project and tackling the areas of universal design and innovative pedagogy.
