Yesenia Y. Torres, Teacher at a Christian Academy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.
In her current post, Ms. Torres teaches science classes, among other subjects, from fourth to 12th grade. She teaches elementary science, intermediate science, high school biology, English, history, and technology classes. She is a certified science teacher, and in preparation for her career in education, she attended the University of Puerto Rico, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Ms. Torres later attended the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico and graduated with a master’s degree. She became involved in her career because of her passion for helping children understand the importance of education, and to help today’s youth become better future citizens.
In addition to her primary professional endeavors, Ms. Torres has dedicated her time to numerous civic and community organizations. She supports her local church and ministry, serves as a prayer leader for Mothers United, and volunteers for a Christian radio program that her mother started. She also serves as an assistant researcher with a nonprofit organization. Attributing her success to the strong work ethic her parents instilled in her, Ms. Torres is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and the National Honor Society, among other organizations. In the coming years, she hopes to pursue a doctoral degree in either epidemiology or psychology.
