Penny Zimring, President at Maryland Educators of Gifted Students, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education administration.
After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Science in elementary education in 1978 from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, Ms. Zimring continued her education with a Master of Science in gifted education in 1987 from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She then earned a graduate degree in 2003 in administration and supervision from Johns Hopkins, where she later served as adjunct professor in gifted and talented education.
Currently, Ms. Zimring provides superior service as president of the Maryland Educators of Gifted Students, whose goals are to encourage and promote leadership and support networking in gifted and talented education, promote and provide opportunities for professional growth for members as well as collaboration with other professional organizations and institutions with like purposes and to influence the development and implementation of gifted and talented education policies within the state of Maryland. Ms. Zimring additionally prospered in her formal role as instructional facilitator of the gifted and talented program in the Howard County Public School System in Maryland.
To remain aware of changes and advancements in her field, Ms. Zimring maintains affiliation with the National Association for Gifted Children, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and the honor societies Phi Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Ms. Zimring took great pride in her role as a leader of the program in the Howard County, Maryland School District, in which she supervised a staff of 111 teachers.
