Ms. Cameau has established a distinguished career in education spanning two decades, marked by her commitment to student growth and innovative teaching practices. Since 2024, she has served as a third- grade teacher at The Croft School in Boston, Massachusetts, where she is responsible for instructing students in mathematics, reading, writing, grammar and spelling. Ms. Cameau is recognized for her expertise in lesson planning, differentiating instruction and fostering social-emotional skills among her students. Her daily responsibilities include collecting instructional data, conducting both small group and whole-group activities, correcting assignments, managing minor social-emotional crises and maintaining open communication with parents. She also prepares transcripts for families transitioning their children to other schools.

Before joining The Croft School, Ms. Cameau was a mathematics specialist for grades five and six at Boston Renaissance Charter Public School from 2022 to 2024. In this capacity, she focused on supporting students’ mathematical development and contributed to the school’s diversity team. Ms. Cameau’s work emphasized meeting each learner at their individual level and applying differentiated strategies to ensure academic success.

Having spent the bulk of her teaching career with Newton Public Schools in Newton Center, Massachusetts, between 2007 and 2022, Ms. Cameau dedicated most of her time to third- and fourth-grade instruction. During her tenure, she participated in hiring committees, contributed to the selection of district curriculum materials and was invited to write science curriculum content. Notably, approximately 10 years ago, she developed a comprehensive curriculum on the civil rights movement for fourth-grade students that was adopted district-wide. Ms. Caleau presented her social studies projects to fellow educators in Newton, leading to widespread implementation of her innovative approaches. Additionally, she contributed to several major projects aimed at creating user-friendly educational resources that were clear and engaging for children.

In addition to her primary teaching roles, Ms. Cameau was a science instructor at Shady Hill School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 2019. Earlier, she taught summer school for Boston Public Schools in 2008 and garnered experience as a teacher’s assistant at Delphi Academy in Milton in 2005. Before pivoting into teaching, Ms. Cameau worked as a phlebotomist II at Boston Children’s Hospital from 2000 to 2007.

Ms. Cameau’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, completed in 2004, and a Master of Education on campus in 2007. Her educational journey began with an initial focus on medical laboratory sciences before shifting toward psychology with aspirations of becoming a child psychologist. A pivotal experience working at a group home during college inspired Ms. Cameau’s transition into teaching after witnessing the challenges faced by a young student struggling with literacy.

In addition to her formal education, Ms. Cameau holds SEI certification and credentials in Educator Forever curriculum development foundations from Educator Forever Agency. These credentials have supported her ongoing efforts to develop inclusive curricula and implement effective instructional strategies.

Beyond the classroom, Ms. Cameau has demonstrated civic engagement through volunteer work at homeless shelters with Arbella Insurance Group since 2007. She also participates in various curriculum advisory groups within Newton Public Schools.

Throughout her career, Ms. Cameau has been recognized for her dedication and impact as an educator. She has received several awards and recognitions as a leading teacher within Newton Public Schools and was featured in the Newton TAB for her contributions to education.

Ms. Cameau attributes much of her success to her passion for teaching and the unwavering support of her mother, who instilled values of perseverance and accountability from an early age. She also credits influential mentors and acknowledges the positive impact of colleagues throughout her career who have contributed to her professional growth through collaboration and shared insights.

A professional philosophy deeply rooted in compassion and differentiation, Ms. Cameau strives to ensure every student feels seen, heard and valued regardless of their learning needs or backgrounds. Many of her students have attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder or struggle with low self-esteem, challenges that she addresses by building confidence and fostering supportive classroom environments. Ms. Cameau places strong emphasis on collaboration with parents, believing that such partnerships yield the best outcomes for students.

Ms. Cameau remains dedicated to helping students develop resilience and self-confidence while fostering inclusive learning environments where every child can thrive. Looking ahead, she aims to continue supporting student success at The Croft School through collaborative program development with colleagues and strengthened partnerships with parents.
