Dr. Tarchichi has established a distinguished career in educational leadership, marked by more than two decades of service and a reputation for transformative school district management. Since 2025, he has served as the principal and superintendent of schools for Delanco Township School District in Delanco, New Jersey. In this capacity, Dr. Tarchichi oversees daily operations, attends meetings, manages discipline issues, covers lunch duties and classes as needed, finalizes board meeting agendas, and assists students with high school applications and standardized exam preparation. His hands-on approach and commitment to student success have been hallmarks of his leadership.
Before his current role, Dr. Tarchichi excelled as the chief school administrator at Mary A. Dobbins School District in Hainesport, New Jersey, from 2024 to 2025. There, he was tasked with overall leadership while ensuring a calming and academic environment that met the needs of all students.
Having previously spent nearly a decade employed by Pennsauken Public Schools in Pennsauken, New Jersey, Dr. Tarchichi served as the superintendent of schools between 2016 and 2024. This tenure was widely regarded as a period of unprecedented growth and innovation. Under his guidance, high school enrollment increased from 1,100 to 1,600 students. He also established 20 new vocational programs, including welding, carpentry, automotive technology, barbering and culinary arts, an Air Force program, and a career and technical education program, and spearheaded the transformation of the closed Roosevelt School into the Roosevelt STEM School, which became the top-ranked school in New Jersey, a historic first for the district. Dr. Tarchichi’s initiatives also enabled students to earn up to 60 college credits and obtain vocational certifications before graduating from high school. He notably facilitated more than $70 million in additional funding for the district during his tenure.
Dr. Tarchichi held the dual roles of superintendent of schools and principal at Woodlynne School District in Woodlynne, New Jersey, from 2013 to 2016. He led the district out of state takeover status while achieving record-high student performance on standardized tests and increasing the QSAC “Instruction and Programs” indicator by over 50 percentage points. Dr. Tarchichi’s fiscal stewardship resulted in significant budget savings and comprehensive facility upgrades, with more than $3 million added to district resources.
In earlier administrative roles, Dr. Tarchichi excelled as the vice principal at Salem County Vocational Technical Schools Foundation Inc. in Mannington, New Jersey, between 2012 and 2013, following his role as the supervisor of secondary education at Mercer County Technical Schools in Trenton, New Jersey, between 2010 and 2012. Dr. Tarchichi’s teaching career began as a health and physical education teacher at UrbanPromise in Camden, New Jersey, from 2004 to 2006. He subsequently taught chemistry at LEAP Academy University Charter School in Camden during the 2006-2007 academic year, biological and physical science at Samuel S. Fels High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the 2007-2008 academic year, chemistry at Penn Tech’s Pennsauken campus during the 2008-2009 academic year, and biology and environmental science at Abraham Lincoln High School in Philadelphia during the 2009-2010 academic year.
Dr. Tarchichi’s extensive academic background has been instrumental in shaping his approach to educational leadership. He received a Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology with a minor in biology from West Virginia University in 2004, followed by a Master of Education in physical education and exercise science from Rutgers, The College of New Jersey, in 2005. Dr. Tarchichi then earned a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and a Master of Science in biology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, both in 2008. Additional degrees included a Master of Education in educational leadership from Rutgers, The College of New Jersey, in 2011, a Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Rowan University in 2016, a Master of Arts in special education and a Master of Arts in learning disabilities from Rowan University in 2018, and a Doctor of Philosophy in education and special education from Temple University in 2020.
In addition to his formal education, Dr. Tarchichi holds several professional credentials, including a learning disabilities teacher consultant certification. Additionally, he holds certifications in biology, chemistry, special education, health and physical education, culinary arts and driver education.
Active professionally, Dr. Tarchichi is a member of the School Superintendents Association and the New Jersey Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultants Organization. Civically, he is recognized as a past president and member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He also volunteers for free testing initiatives for students with special needs across various school districts and volunteers with Scouting America and Girl Scouts of the USA. Furthermore, Dr. Tarchichi enjoys coaching youth sports.
Dr. Tarchichi is recognized for his extensive background in educational administration and leadership, particularly as an expert in rebuilding school districts and school turnaround strategies. Notably, during his tenure at the Woodlynne School District and the Mary A. Dobbins School District, he was honored with School Turnaround Recognition Awards in 2014 and 2025, respectively, for his efforts to improve academic outcomes and operational efficiency. Dr. Tarchichi was also honored with a Courageous Leadership Award from Pennsauken Public Schools in 2020 and a Superintendent Academic Achievement Award in 2024.
Dr. Tarchichi attributes his achievements to his faith and to the positive examples set by his parents for him and his siblings. Known for his dependability, having never missed a day of work, he values lifelong learning and strives always to do what is right regardless of circumstance. Looking ahead, Dr. Tarchichi hopes to announce his sons’ names at their middle school and high school graduations as superintendent while making lasting memories with them throughout their formative years. He also aspires to continue contributing to Delanco Township Public Schools by supporting students most in need, as well as those within indigenous communities.
