Maribel M. Salois, BA, MA, MS, English language arts (ELA) teacher at the School of Mathematics, Science and Technology Through Arts has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in English language arts education.
For nearly 15 years, Ms. Salois has distinguished herself as an excellent and deeply caring ELA teacher. Her professional life began in 2011 as an English student observer for W.T. Clarke Middle High School’s MODEL Teaching Program. Ms. Salois further established herself as a head intern at DKMS, an English student-teacher at Francis Lewis High School, a part-time teacher at Huntington Learning Center, and an English instructor with the New York City Department of Education and the Cobble Hill School of American Studies. She contributed for five years as an English instructor at Harriet Tubman Charter School starting in 2015.
After leaving Harriet Tubman Charter School, Ms. Salois held the role of ELA instructor at Atmosphere Academy Public Charter Schools and English instructor at Summit Public Schools. She also spent several years teaching English at Highlight High School.
Since 2025, Ms. Salois has served as an ELA teacher at the School of Mathematics, Science and Technology Through Arts. Within this endeavor, she develops a strong, student-focused curriculum, leads a cross-disciplinary team and supports the professional growth of her colleagues through coaching and mentorship. Ms. Salois has demonstrated the capacity to teach children from kindergarten age all the way through grade 12. She has also assisted as a professional learning specialist at Amplify Education Inc. since 2025. In this role, Ms. Salois builds off the knowledge she has gained through being part of a number of committees and leadership teams throughout her career. She coordinates with principals, vice principals, department heads and more to create and implement education programs that can be utilized on a global level, from the United States to China to Mexico.
Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Salois sought a strong foundation in her own education. She was initially encouraged by her family to become a doctor but ended up changing majors four times before her sophomore year of college at Adelphi University. Quickly committing to a direction, Ms. Salois graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2011. Subsequently, she earned a Master of Arts in Education from the Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Sciences at Adelphi University in 2012. Committed to continued self-improvement, Ms. Salois obtained a diploma in managing diversity and inclusion in the workplace from the New York University School of Professional Studies in 2018 and completed general coursework in educational leadership and administration at Hunter College in 2020. As a Spanish and English speaker, she was endorsed as a multilingual learner in bilingual and multilingual education from Western Washington University in 2024.
When not working, Ms. Salois finds balance by hiking, practicing yoga, painting, playing video games and learning how to use cutting-edge technology. Looking ahead, she has ambitions of positioning herself as a leader in education in the United States. Having trained in school building and school district leadership, Ms. Salois envisions becoming the superintendent of a school district, where she can advocate for students’ rights and improve the quality of education. She also plans to continue putting forth significant effort to bring a voice to minority students and other underserved populations in her community.
