Anthony Rondinelli, professor at Springfield Technical Community College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in accounting and education.

Across more than 30 years of professional development, Prof. Rondinelli has taken on a wide range of roles to make ends meet before reaching his current level of success. He comes from humble origins, having lost his father at the age of 8 and being raised by a single mother with very little money. Prof. Rondinelli worked to put himself through school, with his first major job being as a district sales and marketing manager at Stop & Shop in 1994. From there, he devoted a stretch of his career to financial risk work as a financial and medical risk consultant with Mass Mutual Financial Group, a senior financial and medical risk consultant at Lincoln Financial Group, and a senior financial consultant with GE Capital.

Beginning in 2004, Prof. Rondinelli transitioned into the traditional accounting side of business. He spent several years as a senior accountant and assistant controller with Genworth Financial and almost five years as a public accountant, auditor and tax accountant with Corbin & Tapases PC. Prof. Rondinelli quickly discovered that he had both great skill in and passion for accounting. As he got deeper into the profession, he realized that he also had a knack for explaining complex ideas related to it and understood that this could be a significant boon if he wanted to teach the subject.

Shifting to education in 2010, Prof. Rondinelli became an adjunct professor of economics at American International College and an adjunct professor of accounting at Holyoke Community College. In 2014, he accepted an assistant professor position at his alma mater, Springfield Technical Community College. Since then, Prof. Rondinelli has been promoted to associate professor and full professor. He has concurrently contributed as an adjunct professor of accounting at Springfield College and an adjunct professor of finance at the Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Prof. Rondinelli teaches two primary courses at Springfield Technical Community College. The first focuses on personal income tax preparation and has led to students being hired for jobs at tax preparation firms immediately after completing the class. For his other course, Prof. Rondinelli teaches computerized accounting, familiarizing students with programs such as Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks. He expresses deep care for the well-being of his students, an attitude that was demonstrated when he took on a blind student and learned to use braille in order to ensure the student’s success. Prof. Rondinelli considers that experience to be the most memorable achievement of his professional life so far.

Throughout the turns that his vocational journey has taken, Prof. Rondinelli has been backed up by his own educational background, beginning with an Associate of Science in business administration from Springfield Technical Community College in 1992. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in marketing and research, graduating cum laude from Westfield State University in 1994, followed by a Master of Business Administration in accountancy from Western New England University, where he graduated summa cum laude in 2001. Subsequently, Prof. Rondinelli earned a Master of Arts in business and accountancy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 2012. He has been certified in executive management by Cornell University in 1996, as a notary public by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1999, as a Six Sigma green belt by General Electric Company Inc. in 2002, in management leadership by Toastmasters International in 2004, as a professional QuickBooks adviser by Intuit in 2011, as an online learning instructor by Westfield State University in 2011, as a distance educator by American International College, and in sports nutrition and personal training by the American Sports & Fitness Association in 2018.

Outside of his career, Prof. Rondinelli is also a dedicated husband and a loving father to two children. When he’s not working, he enjoys hiking, playing golf, watching and participating in sports, and volunteering, especially with his local church. Planning ahead, Prof. Rondinelli intends to continue his academic journey by pursuing a doctorate, although he has not yet decided on what subject he will focus on. Though still committed to teaching for the foreseeable future, he has also considered running for political office or becoming a church deacon further down the line.
