Ndidiamaka Musa, MD, pediatric cardiac intensivist at Seattle Children’s Hospital, fellow of critical care medicine at the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American College of Critical Care Medicine, and professor of pediatrics and director of the internal coaching program at the University of Washington, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care.

Dr. Musa is a distinguished medical professional with a focus on pediatric cardiac intensive care. She currently holds several prominent positions, all of which attest to her expertise in the medical field. Beginning her tenure at Seattle Children’s Hospital in 2013, she continues to make significant contributions to pediatric cardiac care as a pediatric cardiac intensivist. She has also been a critical care medicine fellow with the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American College of Critical Care Medicine since 2016. Adding to her expertise, Dr. Musa has been engaged in higher education as a professor of pediatrics at the University of Washington in the school of medicine since 2020 and, from 2023 on, as the director and founder of the institution’s internal coaching program within the department of pediatrics, where she works directly with patients while overseeing the coaching initiative.

Leveraging her extensive background, Dr. Musa’s career has been marked by her dedication to critical care medicine. From 2021 to 2023, she was the interim co-division chief for pediatric cardiac intensive care at the University of Washington. She was also an associate professor of pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin for over a decade, beginning in 2002. During that time, she was also instrumental as a pediatric cardiac intensivist at Children’s Wisconsin. Dr. Musa’s early career included a role as a clinical assistant professor at Riley Hospital for Children between 1998 and 2001.

Dr. Musa’s educational background laid a strong foundation for her career achievements. She earned an MD from A.M. Doglioti College of Medicine in 1987. She then completed a pediatric residency in 1995, followed by a pediatric critical care medicine fellowship at the University of Chicago in 1998 and a pediatric cardiac critical care fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in 2002. Additionally, Dr. Musa holds a coaching certification from the Hudson Institute of Coaching, which complements her efforts in fostering personal growth and leadership among physicians.

Throughout her career, Dr. Musa has been actively involved in professional organizations, such as the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society. These memberships have allowed her to remain abreast of industry trends and network with like-minded individuals.

Beyond her work-related obligations, Dr. Musa’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is evident through her roles as the co-chair of the diversity, equity and inclusion committee and the international committee within the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society. Dr. Musa has also served on the World Federation of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine board and has participated in medical missions across Nigeria, Senegal, Guyana and Kenya.

Dr. Musa’s work has been recognized with numerous awards, including Presidential Citation Awards from the Society of Critical Care Medicine and an award for developing continuing medical education from the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Musa is eager to continue advancing in her career. She aims to cultivate a culture of coaching within the medical field to help physicians enhance their skills and achieve their goals while maximizing their potential. Dr. Musa envisions other organizations adopting similar coaching practices to benefit physicians globally.
