Kevin R. Grady, PhD, Adjunct Professor of Human Career Development at Los Rios Community College District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educator for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Higher Education.

Dr. Grady is a seasoned educator whose career began with the Sacramento County Office of Education in Sacramento, California, in 1987. He taught high school students for over two decades, including one year as a master teacher within his school district. After retiring, Dr. Grady served as a resource specialist for the entire county and district in Sacramento County. In this role, he was involved in assisting students, families and general education teachers regarding individual education plans to ensure they met the state and federal education law requirements. Retiring from public school education in 2012, Dr. Grady remains active in education, teaching college students.

While still employed in Sacramento, Dr. Grady began serving as an adjunct professor at Los Rios Community College District in Sacramento in 2003, where he continues to have an impact. His role has him teaching several courses, including Diagnostics Learning in Math, which is designed to assist students with learning disabilities in their mastery of math concepts so they may complete the math requirements necessary for an Associate of Arts degree. Dr. Grady has also taught a similar course in English. Besides his teaching goals, he conducts assessments to determine each student’s level and specific needs and develops various teaching techniques tailored to those with learning disabilities.

Before pivoting into education, Dr. Grady spent 10 years in the mental health field working with special needs individuals. Because he had extensively studied special education, he was able to transition into the classroom seamlessly. Following in a line of educators, Dr. Grady’s father taught English and other subjects throughout his career, particularly to students who had various behavioral issues and had been expelled from school. His uncle was also a successful educator. Dr. Grady’s decision to work in mental health care was also due to various factors, including the interactions he had with several special needs students while coming of age who lived in his neighborhood.

Highly educated in his field, Dr. Grady earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, liberal studies and education and a Master of Arts in special education from California State University Sacramento and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational leadership from Trident University International. Adding to his professional success, he garnered several professional credentials highlighting his expertise, including a training certificate in visualizing and verbalizing and in seeing stars symbols imagery through Lindamood-Bell. Dr. Grady also received professional, clear multiple teaching credentials, a clear resource special certificate of confidence, and a clear specialist instruction credential in special education.

Dr. Grady co-authored “Notes for Better Math Performance” via Kendall Hunt Publishing Company in 2009 as a recognized expert in his field. He hopes to collaborate again with his co-authors to provide an updated, refined version. He also published “The Impact of School Community Partnerships on the Success of Elementary Schools” in 2010. Dr. Grady is considering publishing additional works in the future.

Dr. Grady’s most notable educational accomplishments have been witnessing his students succeed. He draws tremendous satisfaction from them being able to demonstrate learning and progress. Despite those who choose to give up and stop trying, Dr. Grady believes everyone has the potential and ability to acquire new skills with the proper motivation.
