Jennifer E. Jamison, Home Instructor at Fairborn City Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in early childhood education.
Since 2024, Ms. Jamisen has served as a home instructor and preschool itinerant teacher in Fairborn City Schools, combining two part-time jobs into a full-time position. In this role, she is responsible for educating students with special needs from kindergarten through third grade, providing them with the tools they need to succeed in the comfort of their homes. She gained an interest in teaching early on, and after graduating high school, she pursued a Bachelor of Education in early elementary education and teaching from The Ohio State University, graduating in 2003. Continuing her studies at the Ashland University Columbus Branch, she completed a non-bachelor’s plus program in early childhood education and teaching, which supplemented her previous degree. Later in her career, she attended Wright State University, earning a Master of Education in early childhood intervention in 2019.
Ms. Jamisen began her career as a substitute teacher in the state of Ohio, becoming a toddler teacher for Teaching Mentoring Communities, formerly Texas Migrant Council Inc., in 2008. She remained in the position until 2014, when she secured work as a title one reading teacher with Summit Academy Management, serving Dayton Elementary and Middle Schools. After a year, she joined Hearts for ABA’s Applied Learning Center, where she served as both a therapist and a teacher, gaining further skills and experience in her field. From 2012 to 2021, she worked part-time as a teacher assistant and substitute teacher assistant for the Council on Rural Services, and following 2021, she served as an intervention specialist for students in kindergarten to third grade attending Summit Academy until beginning her current position with Fairborn City Schools in 2024.
As a teacher, Ms. Jamison’s greatest accomplishment is seeing her students excel, meeting and exceeding their objectives and goals. She attributes her success to the support of her parents, who demonstrated persistence, determination and hard work. Reflecting on her childhood, she lends additional credit to her high school Spanish teacher, Tara McCanney, who served as a role model. In addition to multiple degrees, she holds a resident educator early childhood intervention specialist license from the Ohio Department of Education and formerly held a resident educator early childhood license from 2019 to 2023. For her achievements, she has been featured in Millenium Magazine, and in 2020, she was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success. To remain current in her career, she maintains membership to the Future Teachers’ Education Association and the International Literacy Association.
Looking to the future, Ms. Jamison intends to earn a degree in special needs education, allowing her to serve a broader contingent of students. She hopes to move forward in her career by earning a supervisory position in reading or special needs education or a university supervisor position, educating upcoming teachers currently attending college. Outside of her career, she enjoys reading, gardening and swimming as well as attending concerts and plays. Spending time with family and friends is important to her, and she always makes time for her loved ones despite her busy schedule.
