Stephen M. Rapier, PhD, assistant professor of marketing at Pepperdine University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in higher education.
Dr. Rapier, an experienced educator at Pepperdine University, has been teaching on campus as an assistant professor of marketing since 2008. Leveraging his extensive success both in the field and the classroom, he teaches classes such as Marketing Management, Global Brand Management, Global Marketing and Luxury Brand Management. Dr. Rapier’s core marketing courses also include consulting projects that require collaboration with well-known companies like Tabasco and Cisco Systems, where students can create tailored marketing strategies and get a proper understanding of the industry. His expertise in marketing and branding strategy, public relations, advertising and market research have been pivotal to his success.
Throughout his career, Dr. Rapier has worked for various leading organizations, including Sebring Hard Disc Systems as the company’s president, J. B. Schulz & Co. as vice president, Power Lift and Helisys as the director of marketing, and The Artime Group as the executive vice president. As an educator, his foundational roles occurred at the University of Southern California and California State University (CSU) as a guest lecturer and later at Claremont University as an adjunct marketing professor. Moreover, Dr. Rapier has excelled in consulting and advisory roles, including the Connective Leadership Institute, as an advisory board member since 2006.
Highly educated, Dr. Rapier holds a Bachelor of Science in marketing from CSU, followed by an Executive Master of Business Administration and a Doctor of Philosophy in brand authenticity and trust from Claremont University. Besides his degrees, he remains at the forefront of his industry through affiliations with the American Marketing Association and has contributed numerous articles to professional journals. Dr. Rapier has also drawn satisfaction from civic opportunities, serving as a volunteer Sunday school snack coordinator at Grace Baptist Church and as a volunteer for Children’s Hunger Fund and ThinkLA. His success has been recognized with features in Forbes, U.S. News and World Report, BusinessWeek, and on KTLA TV. Passionate about student engagement, Dr. Rapier remains eager to continue teaching, influencing, and mentoring students and sharing his wisdom with the future generation.
