Loretta G. Evivie, MBA, EdD, professor of practice of leadership in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) at Queens University of Charlotte, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business education.

Having achieved a distinguished career of more than 35 years, Dr. Evivie now serves as a professor of practice of leadership in DEI at Queens University of Charlotte, a role she has held since 2022. Her responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in business, leadership, general education and graduate-level DEI curriculum at the university. Prior to joining Queens University of Charlotte, Dr. Evivie contributed to Central Piedmont Community College for almost 20 years. She joined as an adjunct business instructor and later held positions of increasing scope including business instructor, director of the business and accounting division, and professor. Dr. Evivie began her career in academia as an adjunct professor of business at Montreat College in 2003.

In addition to her primary vocation, Dr. Evivie showcased her business expertise through a variety of positions during the first 20 years of her professional life, including chief operating officer of PrimeCare Medical Center, lead accountant at LGE Accounting and Financial Services, district leader at Primerica Financial Services Inc., and senior financial accountant at Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company. During her early career, she specialized in accounting and taxes, starting off as a junior auditor with Pannell Kerr Forster Chartered Accountants, an accounts payable specialist with Peaches Entertainment Corporation and contributing as a tax auditor for the Florida State Department of Revenue.

A strong academic background provides the foundation for Dr. Evivie’s accomplishments. She completed the West African Examinations Council General Certificate of Education from Federal Government Girls College, in Bakori, Nigeria in 1984 and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, in Zaria, Nigeria, graduating with honors in 1988, followed by a Master of Business Administration at the University of Maryland in 1997. Subsequently, Dr. Evivie earned a Doctor of Educational Leadership with a Community Specialization from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2009. She completed her doctorate, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA while working full-time and managing family and personal relationships, a feat that remains one of her treasured accomplishments. Dr. Evivie has continued her education with multiple certifications, including diversity and inclusion from Cornell University in 2021, actualized performance solutions certified facilitator/coach and interfaith leadership in 2024. She credits her success to the mentorship of her father, who was the director of hospital administration at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Teaching Hospital, Zaria, Nigeria. She credits her mother for familial love and support.

Known for her civic advocacy, Dr. Evivie has given back to the community at large through multiple outlets. She is president-elect and serves as the secretary for the executive committee of International House Charlotte and serves on the planning committee for the United Negro College Fund’s Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon. She recently joined the Community Advisory Board for WFAE Radio 90.7 FM. Dr. Evivie was part of the board of directors for the Girl Scouts Hornets’ Nest Council for 8 years and served as interim chief executive officer of that organization during a period of leadership transition. She also supports fundraising for Good Friends of Charlotte and maintains membership in The International Society of Female Professionals. Dr. Evivie participates in Queens University of Charlotte, Charlotte Talent Initiative, a program focused on reducing the socioeconomic gap in the Charlotte community and First Generation Investors, a program that provides financial education to high school students at no-cost through a network of volunteer tutors who are college students.

Outside of her career, Dr. Evivie is a wife and mother to four children. She enjoys travel, music, Yoga and watching athletic events. Dr. Evivie intends to continue her work in higher education while exploring global opportunities that align with her passion for advancing higher education and/or making a difference in the lives of girls/women.
