She began her career as a special education teacher at Rosedale Union School District from 2005 to 2015 and at Kern High School District from 2015 to 2017. She garnered a stellar reputation as an adjunct faculty at National University from 2016 to 2023.
Ms. Elmore pursued an education at Bakersfield Junior College, where she completed coursework before continuing her academic efforts at Long Beach State University and obtaining a bachelor’s degree in social work. She concluded her studies and graduated with a Master of Arts in special education in 1989. In light of her impressive undertakings, she has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year.
Ms. Elmore’s principal at the public charter school was open to her idea of full inclusion and co-teaching. She was able to create a program servicing students with special needs in the general education setting, with both general and special education teachers working together to help all students succeed. In the immediate future, she is considering consulting for another charter school that has sought out her services. She plans to retire in approximately 10 years, but in the meantime, she hopes to continue doing what she is doing with her current school and make sure it is well-established before she moves on to other ventures.
