Tanya H. Dixon-Neely, high school teacher at Rowan-Salisbury Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in middle school and high school teaching.

With 25 years of experience to her credit, Mrs. Dixon-Neely has excelled as a high school teacher at Henderson Independent High School, part of Rowan-Salisbury Schools, since 2004. In her role, she teaches in-person and virtually in an array of topics including seventh-grade science, middle school math, social studies, language arts, English language arts, and high school English. She has served as a teacher for 25 years, two of which were spent contributing to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Additionally, she established herself as owner, wedding director, consultant, announcer, and flower arrangement specialist at D’s Creations.

Before embarking on her professional path, Mrs. Dixon-Neely pursued an education at Shaw University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice in 1992. She continued her academic efforts at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, completing coursework in curriculum and instruction. She concluded her studies at North Carolina Central University, pursuing coursework toward a master’s degree in school administration. She is a certified social studies high school teacher in the State of North Carolina.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Mrs. Dixon-Neely has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She donated her efforts as an advisor to Ladies in Pearls at the Rowan-Salisbury Schools. She volunteered with the Mobile Mammogram Unit Community Service provided by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Meals on Wheels. She held the role of coordinator for the Edmentum Online Program and the Alternative Suspension Program. Furthermore, she performed as an organist and pianist at churches in her community.

In addition to her primary vocation, Mrs. Dixon-Neely remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Trinity Presbyterian Church, the National Education Association, and the North Carolina Association of Educators.

In light of her impressive undertakings, Mrs. Dixon-Neely has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She produced 50 corsages for the 13th Presidential Inauguration and 150 corsages for the Presidential Inauguration gala at Livingstone College in 2023. She was presented with the Time Warner Cable Star Teacher Award in 2006.

In the coming years, Mrs. Dixon-Neely looks forward to retiring. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in school administration at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in January. Additionally, as the owner of D’s Creations, she is determined to expand her business in wedding directing and floral arrangement. She has set her sights on writing proposals for funeral homes within the vicinity as part of her business expansion plan, hoping to spread her expertise in flower arrangements to a broader range of customers.
