Ms. Douglas prestigious professional path includes a lengthy tenure as the assistant principal for the Corona-Norco Unified School District from 2001 to 2022. Subsequently, she accepted the role of principal of the Menifee Union School District in 2022, reflecting her steadfast pledge to advocate for every student’s welfare and cooperate with faculty and staff to maintain educational standards. Additionally, she has served as an instructional coach, staff developer, IBMYP coordinator, and acting title I specialist, which showcases her multifaceted expertise.
Throughout her career, Ms. Douglas has been honored with numerous accolades. Notably, she received the Communication Leader Award from Menifee Union School District in 2022, the Outstanding Reading Teacher of the Year Award from the Inland Empire Reading Council in 2010, and the Teacher of the Year Award from John Adams Elementary School in 2011. Her commitment and connection with students were further acknowledged when she was named Site Teacher of the Year and District Teacher of the Year by the Corona-Norco Unified School District in 2014 and was presented with the Teacher of the Year Award from the California State Senate in 2014. Ms. Douglas also actively engages in civic service, contributing as a sponsor for Compassion International since 2007 and mentoring for Inspire Life Skills Training in 2015.
Reflecting on her remarkable journey, one of Ms. Douglas’ most notable achievements is pioneering as the first woman of color in her position with the Menifee Union School District. She attributes this milestone to her determination and adept navigation of various challenges, underscoring her resilience and unwavering spirit. Looking ahead, with retirement on the horizon, Ms. Douglas hopes to explore potential avenues in consulting or embracing an adjunct professor role, aiming to impart her wealth of knowledge to aspiring educators.
