Tuere Anne Marshall, EdD, retired professor at Montgomery College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in student success advocacy.
With 37 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Marshall excelled as professor at Montgomery College from 2019 to 2021, at which point she retired. She began her career as senior executive secretary at Resorts International from 1984 to 1987. She worked as an administrative assistant at Dickstein Shapiro LLP from 1992 to 1995. She garnered a stellar reputation as an adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia from 1999 to 2009 and in the English department at Bowie State University from 2006 to 2007. Concurrent to these postings, she served as an associate professor of the Department of English at Montgomery College in 2007 and from 2012 to 2018, and as a professor of English at Gateway Academic Program Inc. from 2013 to 2014.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Marshall pursued an education at the University of the District of Columbia where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English literature in 1999. She continued her studies at the University of New Hampshire, graduating with a Master of Arts in English literature in 2001. At Howard University, she completed PhD coursework in English literature from 2002 to 2009 before obtaining a Doctorate of Education in community college leadership from Morgan State University in 2022. She holds a College Success Foundation certificate of Appreciation from the Gateway Academic Program.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Dr. Marshall has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. Civic: She contributed as a mentor at Capital City Public Charter School from 2008 to 2012 and to DC Grandparents for Mental Health through HelpAge USA. She participated in GirlTREK, a national life-saving sisterhood and initiative dedicated to addressing intergenerational trauma, combatting systemic racism, catalyzing transformative change within Black lives, and advocating for civil rights-inspired health activism since 2021. She has also found success with her three published works, including her dissertation, “An Examination of the Effectiveness of English Developmental Education Strategies on Student Success and Completion” in 2022.
In addition to her primary vocation, Dr. Marshall remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was vice president of the Alpha Chapter at the University of the District of Columbia from 1998 to 1999 and a member of Sigma Tau Delta and the International English Honor Society since 1998. In light of her impressive undertakings, she has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was presented with a Certificate of Recognition from Montgomery College Board of Trustees and recognized as Woman of the Year by the American Classic Woman of the Year Pageant Organization.
