Dr. Muhammad Zeshan, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and Private Practice Psychiatrist at Inside Out MZ, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements and leadership in Higher Education and Children’s Mental Health.

Dr. Zeshan’s illustrious career in psychiatry spans more than a decade, marked by his unwavering commitment to advancing minority mental health. Since 2019, he has served as an assistant professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey, where he supervises medical students and residents at Rutgers University Hospital. His role extends beyond academia as he consults on a New Jersey grant project and supports approximately 150 pediatricians by reviewing complex cases. Dr. Zeshan also evaluates referred patients for one-time assessments and answers clinical questions from pediatricians.

In the evenings, Dr. Zeshan manages his own private practice, Inside Out MZ, in Princeton, New Jersey, treating patients with various disorders. Recognized as the only infant and toddler-trained psychiatrist in the state, he specializes in specialized infant and toddler mental health services, but provides care to infants, children and adolescents of all ages.

Dr. Zeshan is widely recognized for his contributions to evidence-based interventions. His dedication to children’s mental health has also become evident through his pioneering work in Pakistan, where he piloted the first transgender mental health initiative and inaugurated the first public-sector autism center in his home state.

Before teaching and seeing patients, Dr. Zeshan honed his expertise during a clinical fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, from 2017 to 2019. Notably, he completed a residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai between 2014 and 2017.

Dr. Zeshan’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in medicine from Nishtar Medical University in 2008. He furthered his education with a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training at Harvard University from 2017 to 2019 and an infant-parent mental health post-graduate certificate training fellowship at the University of Massachusetts in Boston between 2018 and 2019. As a certified Maxwell Leadership Coach since 2024, Dr. Zeshan aims to empower young professionals by enhancing their communication and leadership skills.

In addition to his degrees, Dr. Zeshan’s professional affiliations have further underscored his commitment to the field. He is a member and elected fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He is also involved with the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and has served on the board of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association since 2026. Dr. Zeshan’s contributions extend to the New Jersey Psychiatric Association, where he has been active as a member and has been instrumental on its advocacy council since 2020 and education council since 2025.

Active in his community, Dr. Zeshan actively participates in civic organizations like Supporting Child Caregivers Inc., where he has served on the board of directors since 2024. He is also an accomplished author of children’s storybooks, having published seven books in English and five in local languages.

Dr. Zeshan’s accolades include multiple awards from prestigious organizations, such as the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He attributes his success to staying curious, continually learning and viewing failure as a stepping stone for growth. Looking ahead, Dr. Zeshan is eager for future success with plans to expand access to children’s mental health care by bridging gaps between parents and children. He also intends to continue advocating for minority mental health initiatives globally.
