Andrea E. Neal, Intensive Reading Teacher at Einstein Academy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements and leadership in Reading Education.

Ms. Neal currently serves as an intensive reading teacher at Einstein Academy in Cocoa, Florida, a position she has held since 2022. In this capacity, she provides targeted support to students with Individualized Education Programs and 504 plans, ensuring that learners with diverse needs receive the assistance necessary to thrive academically. Ms. Neal’s responsibilities include working closely with dyslexic students and those with learning disabilities, guiding them through the process of unlearning ineffective reading habits and reprogramming their understanding of language, phonics and word decoding. By breaking students into small groups, she fosters an environment in which idioms and example sentences are explored collaboratively, thereby deepening comprehension. Additionally, Ms. Neal conducts intensive therapeutic activities using manipulatives to help students decode words and individual sounds effectively.

Hired by Einstein Academy in 2020, Ms. Neal initially worked as a reading teacher, where she refined her instructional techniques and expanded her impact on student literacy. Her dedication to individualized instruction and her commitment to fostering a supportive classroom environment were hallmarks of her tenure in this role.

During the first half of 2020, Ms. Neal contributed her expertise as a teacher and tutor at Huntington Learning Center in Orlando, Florida. There, she provided personalized academic support to students seeking to improve their reading and comprehension skills. That same year, Ms. Neal also worked as an account manager at SCM Innovations Inc. (now Space Coast Execs Inc.), a marketing, sales and business consulting company in Orlando.

Between 2018 and 2020, Ms. Neal held multiple positions within the Sweet Home School District in Sweet Home, Oregon. At Sweet Home Junior High School, she excelled as a secretary, security staff member, and educational assistant, all of which allowed her to develop a comprehensive understanding of school operations while supporting both faculty and students. During the 2017-2018 academic year, Ms. Neal was a special education instructional assistant at Sweet Home High School. In this capacity, she supported students with special needs by implementing individualized strategies designed to enhance their educational experience.

Ms. Neal’s academic background included earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in fine and studio arts from Linfield University in 2000. Her artistic training has contributed to her creative approach in the classroom and her ability to design engaging instructional materials tailored to diverse learning styles. Further enhancing her professional qualifications, Ms. Neal received several specialized certifications. She completed an externship with New World of Work for teachers and paraprofessionals, equipping her with innovative strategies for workforce-readiness education. She also became certified in the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program for Reading, Spelling and Speech through Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes. This credential has proven invaluable in Ms. Neal’s work with students facing reading challenges.

Beyond her professional commitments, Ms. Neal is actively involved in civic-minded organizations and community service initiatives. She volunteers as a tutor and contributes her time at soup kitchens and Habitat for Humanity International projects. Additionally, Ms. Neal participates in Bible conferences through her church community.

One of Ms. Neal’s most significant professional achievements centers on her ability to inspire transformative growth in her students. She recalls a particular instance when a ninth-grade student, initially reading at a fourth-grade level, not only reached grade level by graduation but also developed a genuine love for reading after previously disliking books. Moments such as these, when a student expresses newfound understanding, stand among Ms. Neal’s proudest accomplishments.

Ms. Neal attributes much of her success to the unwavering support of her husband and the inspiration she draws from her daughter, who is on the autism spectrum. Her daughter’s experiences have motivated her to dedicate herself to helping students overcome reading obstacles and achieve their full potential.

Looking ahead, Ms. Neal remains deeply committed to advancing literacy education. She hopes to be part of a program with increased funding that will enable her work, whether at her current school or in a new opportunity that better aligns with her goals. Ms. Neal believes that increased funding is essential to highlight the necessity of her work in the education sector.
