Crediting her academic background for playing a pivotal role in shaping her career, Ms. Fleisher earned a Bachelor of Science in special and elementary education from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 2001, providing a strong foundation for her work with diverse learners. She continued her studies by obtaining a Master of Science in educational technology from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2004, equipping her with advanced skills to integrate technology into the classroom environment. In 2009, Ms. Fleisher earned a second master’s degree, this time a Master of Science in literacy education at the College of New Rochelle, further enhancing her expertise in supporting students’ reading and writing development.
In addition to her formal degrees, Ms. Fleisher pursued multiple certifications through professional development courses focused on attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and classroom management. These credentials have enabled her to address the varied needs of her students effectively and maintain an inclusive learning environment.
Ms. Fleisher’s college years included active involvement in several honor societies, a testament to her dedication and hard work. Among them, she was involved as a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, also known as The Circle and ODK, an American collegiate honor society that recognizes leadership and scholarship. Furthermore, Ms. Fleisher was affiliated with Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society exclusive to education.
Throughout her tenure at Rockland BOCES, Ms. Fleisher has been recognized for her dedication and longevity with both 15-year and 20-year service certificates.
Reflecting on her career, Ms. Fleisher attributes her success to several core values, including her passion for teaching, her perseverance and her commitment to lifelong learning. She also emphasizes the importance of teamwork, collaborating closely with assistants, clinicians, and related service providers to create an atmosphere where shared ideas are respected and professional standards are upheld.
