Lorraine Espinoza, professor at Sacramento City College and district manager at AEG Vision, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in optometry education.

Ms. Espinoza has established herself through more than 20 years in the field of optometry, which has made her an ideal teacher on the subject. Her career as an optician began in 2003, working for Dr. Kristie Tang, OD. Ms. Espinoza gained further experience in the same position at Watt Avenue Optometry, Twelve Bridges Vision Care and Lincoln Optometry Center, where she also served as an office manager. From 2016 to 2017, she showcased her leadership as the general manager of Stanton Optical.

Focusing more on management roles as her professional journey went on, Ms. Espinoza contributed as an optical supervisor at Luxottica and a licensed optician at Vision Associates. Across nearly 10 years at the latter organization, she also provided guidance as a regional manager and senior regional manager. Most recently, Ms. Espinoza has joined AEG Vision as a district manager. Her responsibilities include overseeing the purchase of optical materials, organizing practice managers and handling hiring of new staff.

In addition to her optician work, Ms. Espinoza has more recently shifted toward education. Since 2023, she has served as a professor of optical technology at Sacramento City College. Ms. Espinoza also functions as the program director for the school’s optical technology program, building off of her experience in training opticians. She considers being selected to lead this new program at Sacramento City College to be the greatest highlight of her career thus far, a recognition of her accomplishments up to this point.

Ms. Espinoza’s career progress has been supported by her own training and education. She completed coursework through National Career Education in 2005, learning the essentials of optometry. Ms. Espinoza is officially licensed as an optician through the American Board of Opticianry (ABO). She has also earned credentials through National Contact Lens Examiners, a partner organization with the ABO.

Known for her contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Ms. Espinoza gives back to the community above and beyond her primary vocation. Strong in her faith, she teaches Sunday school and participates in music ministry at the Jesus Name Lighthouse and Redemption Church. Ms. Espinoza has volunteered with a juvenile hall writing therapy program. She also provides free health care through California CareForce.

To commemorate her achievements as an optician, Ms. Espinoza has been honored with a number of accolades. She received an award recognizing her excellence in the optical field during a ceremony in 2025.

Outside of her career, Ms. Espinoza is a devoted wife and a loving stepmother to three stepchildren. She is pregnant and expecting to give birth in early 2026. Alongside her work and family life, she enjoys hiking, going to the gym, public speaking and playing sports, including pickleball, basketball and volleyball. Looking ahead, Ms. Espinoza hopes to continue advancing at AEG Vision, with aspirations to become a regional vice president in the future. She also intends to keep teaching at Sacramento City College and growing the optical program, including adding a second cohort and a dual enrollment option for high school students. She is excited to achieve tenure at the institution in the near future.
