Ms. Miller has enjoyed a notable career in education, which spanned five decades, marked by a steadfast commitment to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and a reputation for responsiveness, expertise and leadership. Most recently, she served as an assistant superintendent at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 2019 to 2025, overseeing over 40 schools. In this capacity, Ms. Miller was responsible for ensuring that each school maintained a balanced budget and that resources were allocated appropriately. Among other responsibilities, she collaborated with principals to discuss agendas and traveled throughout Los Angeles to visit schools, assist with problem-solving and engage with parents. A hallmark of Ms. Miller’s career has been her prompt communication. Principals and colleagues alike relied on her immediate responses to concerns, a quality that has become synonymous with her professional identity.
Before her most recent position with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Ms. Miller was an assistant superintendent for the Santa Barbara region of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 2014 to 2019. She oversaw just over 20 schools during this period, providing guidance and support to administrators and faculty while ensuring compliance with archdiocesan policies. Ms. Miller’s leadership contributed significantly to the stability and growth of Catholic education in the region.
Between 2012 and 2014, Ms. Miller worked as a human resources (HR) executive within the central office of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In this position, she managed HR functions for schools across the archdiocese, developing expertise in human resources and budget management. Ms. Miller’s proficiency in these areas has been widely recognized and praised throughout her career.
Ms. Miller’s earlier tenure as a principal within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles spanned two decades, from 1992 to 2012. As a principal, she cultivated strong relationships with teachers, students and parents. Ms. Miller frequently reminded her staff that happy teachers lead to happy students and families, a philosophy she shared in her well-received presentations at teacher conventions, including for the National Catholic Educational Association, where her talk “The Top 10 Ways to Keep Teachers Happy” became especially popular and earned repeat invitations due to its practical insights and engaging delivery.
Having continually progressed throughout her tenure, Ms. Miller began her career in education as a teacher in 1973 after earning her teaching credential. For nearly 20 years, until 1992, she taught in Catholic schools under the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, fostering a love of learning among her students and laying the foundation for her future roles in educational leadership.
Ms. Miller’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in education from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles, California, and a master’s degree in school administration from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. These academic achievements provided her with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective school leadership and administration.
Active in her professional community, Ms. Miller is a respected member of the National Catholic Educational Association. She has also contributed significantly to professional development within Catholic education through presentations and mentorship.
Ms. Miller’s journey into education was inspired by her early experiences helping at an elementary school during high school and by joining a convent after graduation, where all members were educators. After leaving the community of sisters in the 1980s, she continued her vocation as an educator and administrator.
In retirement, Ms. Miller remains committed to supporting Catholic education by offering consulting services for new principals. She is also open to speaking engagements on topics such as human resources law and school leadership. Ms. Miller’s ongoing goal is to help educators navigate challenges effectively while maintaining positive school environments.
Throughout her career, Ms. Miller has been recognized for her dedication, expertise in human resources and budgeting, and unwavering support for teachers and administrators across more than 250 schools within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Her legacy is reflected not only in institutional achievements but also in the countless educators she has mentored along the way.
