Mr. Popovici has been recognized as the head of school at Schaumburg Christian School since 2021, where he has demonstrated a commitment to advancing Christian education through innovative approaches. In this capacity, he leads the institution by empowering staff, networking with parents and local businesses, developing a positive school culture and establishing meaningful relationships with churches. Mr. Popovici has been instrumental in implementing counseling programs and creating pathways for student advancement, while also teaching in the classroom, marketing the school, participating in conferences and engaging in community outreach. He also supports charity initiatives and pursues personal growth in administration, consistently advocating for accessible private education.

Among his most notable achievements at Schaumburg Christian School is the clear vision and values Mr. Popovici has established for the institution. Upon reconnecting with Bethel, the parent church, and building relationships with other local churches, he has been able to gain their support through prayer. He has also emphasized the importance of addressing students’ spiritual and social development alongside their academics. One significant accomplishment of Mr. Popovici’s included the formation of a counseling department that bases its work on Scripture, ensuring that every meeting with students is grounded in biblical principles.

Before being acquired by Schaumburg Christian School, Mr. Popovici served as a technology specialist at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois, from 2019 to 2022. During this period, he was also a part-time teacher and educational support professional at Newcomer Center and the boys’ head water polo coach within the Township High School District 214. In these roles, Mr. Popovici contributed to student development both inside and outside the classroom, demonstrating versatility in educational settings.

From 2016 to 2017, Mr. Popovici worked as a social studies and English as a second language teacher at Wheaton North High School within Community Unit School District 200. His responsibilities included supporting students from diverse backgrounds and helping them adapt academically and socially. Mr. Popovici simultaneously taught history at Gage Park High School in Chicago between 2012 and 2022. Over this decade-long tenure, he developed expertise in curriculum design and classroom instruction while fostering an inclusive learning environment.

In preparation for his future, Mr. Popovici earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago in 2012 and a master’s degree in special education and teaching from National Louis University in Chicago in 2018. These academic achievements have provided him with a strong foundation for his work as an educator and administrator.

Mr. Popovici’s professional journey is further distinguished by his membership as an athletic department advisor with the Illinois Association of Christian Schools, reflecting his dedication to both academic excellence and extracurricular engagement.

Recognized for his expertise in empowerment, school culture change and advancing Christian education through innovative strategies, Mr. Popovici’s qualities have helped define his career trajectory and ongoing contributions to the field. Motivated by personal experiences and a desire for a more fulfilling environment than what he encountered during his 10 years in public education, he applied for an administrative position with a Christian school that led to his current leadership role. Equally inspired by his grandfather’s leadership of a seminary during the communist era in Romania and the establishment of one of the country’s leading Christian schools, Mr. Popovici’s vision for bridging preschool through college education has enabled him to provide clear pathways for families while enhancing the overall educational experience.

Eager about enhancing Christian education by focusing on academics, social development and spiritual growth, Mr. Popovici also remains steadfast about ensuring Christ remains central to the school’s approach. Looking ahead, he also aspires to earn a doctorate and continue his personal growth in administration and academics to make a significant impact on education.
