Kristina Battle, Head Girls Basketball Coach at Alvin High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements and leadership in Education and Sports.

Ms. Battle has distinguished herself as one of the youngest head girls’ basketball coaches in the Alvin Independent School District in Alvin, Texas, a testament to her rapid ascent and exceptional leadership within the field of athletics. Since 2024, she has been responsible for setting up her classroom, teaching three to four periods on regular days with a focus on special education, providing mentorship and skill development for both freshmen and varsity athletes, and collaborating with fellow coaches. Ms. Battle’s transition from junior high to high school as a head coach is particularly notable, as such advancement is rare in her district. She credits the encouragement of her athletic director and the mentorship of a previous head coach for preparing her to take on this significant role.

In addition to her responsibilities at Alvin High School, Ms. Battle has operated as a skills trainer through her business Battle Athletics since 2023. Through this venture, she provides specialized training and development for athletes, demonstrating her commitment to fostering growth both on and off the court.

From 2022 to 2024, Ms. Battle coordinated the girls’ basketball program at Manvel Junior High School, part of the Alvin Independent School District. In this capacity, she developed foundational skills among younger athletes and cultivated a culture of discipline and teamwork that would serve them in their future academic and athletic pursuits. Additionally, Ms. Battle taught history on campus.

Ms. Battle’s professional journey began in social work and education as a wrap-around resource specialist within the Houston Independent School District in Houston, Texas, from 2019 to 2022. In this role, she provided comprehensive support services to students facing significant challenges, drawing upon her own experiences to offer guidance and stability.

Ms. Battle was recognized as a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Freshman for basketball in 2016 and earned a college basketball scholarship. She notably earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas, in 2019. As the first member of her family to obtain a college degree, she overcame significant adversity during her formative years, including instability that left her in state care during high school. The support of an elementary school counselor and a high school coach provided much-needed consistency during these challenging times, shaping Ms. Battle’s understanding of the importance of adult mentorship outside the family structure.

Beyond work, Ms. Battle’s civic engagement includes volunteering annually with the Houston Food Bank by coordinating food bank distribution to schools and participating in the Alvin Independent School District Education Foundation’s 5K run.

Ms. Battle’s achievements have been recognized through several honors. She was selected as one of 50 coaches statewide for the 2025 mentee class of the R.O.C.K. (Rare, Outstanding, Compelled & Knowledgeable) Coaches Mentoring Program. She was previously named as the Rookie Teacher of the Year in 2022.

Ms. Battle hopes to be remembered for leading with compassion and love, principles that guide every aspect of her work as an educator and coach. She believes that genuine care is best demonstrated through consistent action, ensuring that every student feels seen, valued and supported.
