With more than 45 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Smith has dedicated her life to the field of education as an esteemed educator and life coach. Since 2011, she has excelled as the head of schools at Llano Christian Academy, where she has also found success as principal and teacher. In these roles, her varied responsibilities include teaching kindergarten through fourth grade in the morning, leading a yearbook class, observing teachers, and managing administrative tasks. Dr. Smith is committed to maintaining the aforementioned academy’s accreditation with the Association of Christian Schools International and ensuring a 10:1 student-teacher ratio. Her dedication to her students is evident in her attentive participation in their extracurricular activities and her availability for support during lunch hours.

Prior to her current position, Dr. Smith worked as the superintendent of schools in Fayette County, Texas from 2006 to 2011. During this time, she supervised the educational programs and initiatives across the county, implementing policies that enhanced the quality of education for all students. In the years prior, she served as an administrative assistant at Huffman Independent School District from 2000 to 2006, where she honed her skills in educational administration.

Dr. Smith began her career as a classroom teacher at Huffman Elementary School in 1980, followed by a post at Huffman Junior High School. She later advanced to become the principal at an elementary school in Flatonia, Texas and at Alice Johnson Junior High School in Channelview, Texas. Her extensive experience in various educational roles has equipped her with a deep understanding of teaching and leadership.

Before embarking upon her professional path, Dr. Smith pursued a formal education at East Texas Baptist University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in 1980. She continued her studies at Stephen F. Austin State University, obtaining a master’s degree in general education in 1981 and a master’s degree in administration in 1992. Dr. Smith ultimately concluded her academic efforts at Nova Southeastern University, graduating with a Doctor of Education in educational leadership and administration in 1995.

In addition to her educational achievements, Dr. Smith is also certified as a life coach by the Coaching Alliance. Moreover, she garnered her certification as a special education teacher. Her passion for academia is matched by her commitment to personal growth and development, which she attributes to her passion for her work and the joy that it continues to bring her.

Outside of her primary accomplishments, Dr. Smith remains involved in civic organizations. Beyond her work as a caregiver for family members since 1985, she likewise volunteers at First Baptist Church Llano. Her contributions to the community have been recognized with honorable accolades as well, including as the Teacher of the Year in 2012 and the Citizen of the Year in Llano, Texas in 2015.

Looking toward the future, Dr. Smith plans to write a book about building private Christian schools through partnerships with public schools. She also intends to continue speaking engagements and working with young adults as they transition into their careers after college graduation. Furthermore, Dr. Smith hopes that her extraordinary dedication to education and community service will inspire those around her in the coming years.
