Mr. Alexander is a high school administrator affiliated with Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. Serving as the assistant principal, he has been instrumental in advancing the school’s progress while participating in several mentoring programs aimed at helping students succeed in life through GED or alternative educational paths. He is also tasked with addressing truancy issues, combating chronic absenteeism in schools, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, and ensuring that students maintain an attendance rate of at least 85%.

Beyond his primary work at Western Branch High School, Mr. Alexander has been instrumental in his community as the chair of the New Chesapeake Men for Progress Education Foundation (NCMPEF), where he has been involved in providing scholarships, grants and mentoring services to students in need. The NCMPEF has already awarded over $30,000 in scholarships in 2025 and will provide an additional $250,000 in scholarships to students in the city of Chesapeake in April 2025. Mr. Alexander is also the vice president of Ground Zero Youth Development and volunteers for the Virginia Department of Education Sol community and his local nursing home. Moreover, Mr. Alexander has served as a longtime mentor for the Virginia Commonwealth Challenge for At-Risk Youth.

Mr. Alexander received a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Delaware State University and a master’s degree in mathematics education from Old Dominion University. He also earned credentials as a certified trainer for the Virginia Education Association. Mr. Alexander’s success earned him recognition as a fellow of the National Math and Science Initiative in 2023. He was also awarded the H. Councill Trenholm Memorial Award in 2024 by the National Education Association for his contributions to helping eliminate racial and ethnic inequities in public education and was highlighted in an article in The Virginian-Pilot in 2024 for his success. Earlier, Mr. Alexander was named the 2019 Chesapeake Rotary Club Educator of the Year. Guided by his faith, he is eager for the future, with the intention of becoming a school principal where he can continue to make a positive impact on students.
