Rajshekhar “Raj” Javalgi, PhD, Retired Dean at Walsh University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Higher Education and Administration.
Dr. Javalgi, a seasoned college educator and administrator, retired from Walsh University’s DeVille School of Business in North Canton, Ohio, as the dean in 2021. Acquired in 2018, he spent several years supporting teachers, researchers and campus efforts. Dr. Javalgi also provided strategic leadership within the school while representing the academic community.
Before joining Walsh University, Dr. Javalgi was affiliated with Cleveland State University. His career history there was marked by a series of significant roles, including professor of marketing and international business, associate dean, director of the Doctor of Business Administration program, director of the entrepreneurship program and director of business outreach.
Highly educated, Dr. Javalgi received a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in mathematics and statistics from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He also earned a Doctor of Philosophy in marketing and international business on campus.
As part of his ongoing commitments to his field, Dr. Javalgi found success through professional memberships with the Academy of International Business and the Academic Management Association. Civically invested, he spent 10 years as a business school board member at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, 10 years as a committee member at his church, and several additional years as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Beyond these commitments, Dr. Javalgi provided pro bono services to various small businesses and nonprofit organizations throughout his career.
As a seasoned scholar, Dr. Javalgi contributed approximately 125 scholarly articles and conference papers in his area of expertise. These articles have been included in prominent professional journals, such as the Journal of International Marketing, the Academy of Marketing Science, the Journal of World Business, the Journal of Business Ethics, and the Journal of Business Research. Dr. Javalgi also served on various editorial boards, has contributed several book chapters on marketing and international business, and authored his first book, “Living a Better Life: Conquering Adversity.”
In retirement, Dr. Javalgi remains active as a consultant. He also continues to conduct research, which centers on internationalizing small and medium companies, how entrepreneurs become successful, their challenges, innovative methods, and the cultural influences of doing business abroad. Besides these efforts, Dr. Javalgi is working on writing his second book, which aims to change the lives of individuals worldwide who face adversity through biblical principles.
Dr. Javalgi was fortunate to secure four consecutive grants totaling over $800,000 in Title VI Business International Education Grants from the U.S. Department of Education. He was also recognized for his hard work with several research, teaching and paper awards, as well as a President Obama’s Award and a Governor’s Award from the State of Ohio. Furthermore, Dr. Javalgi was honored to receive the Distinguished Research of the Year Award in 2005, 2009 and 2013.
Attributing much of his success to his expertise in strategic management and international business, Dr. Javalgi also notes his faith, which drives him to move forward with courage, tenacity and resilience. He takes great pride in valuing integrity, respect, and Christian values, which has been pivotal in his ability to see education and business communities more clearly.
