Lieda A. Shadwick, MAT, career and technical education educator at Riverview Gardens High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.

Ms. Shadwick, a leader in education for over 25 years, has been serving as a career and technical education (CTE) educator at Riverview Gardens High School (RGHS) since 2019. Instrumental in fostering an environment where her students can thrive, she enjoys witnessing their growth as they realize their full potential. Beyond teaching, she serves as a yearbook adviser on campus. Before joining RGHS, Ms. Shadwick was a business educator at Riverview Gardens Central Middle School from 2013 to 2019. She also served as an assistant basketball coach for the middle schoolers between 2016 and 2019. Earlier, she worked as a CTE educator at Northwestern Jr./Sr. High School, Livingston High School and Venice High School, dating back to 1999.

Besides her role at RGHS, Ms. Shadwick has been an independent contractor with VIPKid ESL (now VIP Teacher) since 2018. In preparation for her career in education, she received a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1993 and a Bachelor of Music in music performance in 1994 from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Subsequently, she garnered a Master of Arts in teaching in education technology at Webster University in 2005. Ms. Shadwick is a certified teacher in Illinois and Missouri. Moreover, she is recognized as a veteran of the U.S. Army/Army Reserves, serving her country for eight years, including Durgin Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1991, and earning the rank of sergeant.

Ms. Shadwick’s education has been complemented by various industry-related organizations, such as the National Education Association and the Missouri National Education Association, and as a member of the education committee of the Missouri National Education Association. Civically, she engages as a member of the American Legion Post 365. She previously taught Sunday school and assisted with vacation bible school through her church, and conducted private music lessons. In light of her success, Ms. Shadwick was named as the Teacher of the Year by RGHS in 2010. In the coming years, she aims to continue making a difference in the lives of her students.
