Tylan Dee, MEd, academic adviser and campus resource specialist at Utah State University Blanding, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in higher education.
Mr. Dee, a seasoned professional in education, joined his alma mater, Utah State University, in 2014 as a culinarian I/II on its Blanding campus. Following this tenure, he became a student services coordinator I from 2021 to 2022 before pivoting into the role of an academic adviser and campus resource specialist. In his present position, Mr. Dee is tasked with remaining in contact with his advisee caseload, facilitating appointments to determine degree plans, and, among other goals, teaching college success class topics, such as management and organizational skills. As an adviser, Mr. Dee also focuses on relating to students and their unique situations by sharing his experiences and offering guidance as they navigate college life.
Highly educated, Mr. Dee received a Bachelor of Science in integrated studies, social science and human services from Utah State University in 2022, followed by a Master of Education in educational technology and learning studies in 2024. To advance his career, he is pursuing a doctorate in higher education from the University of Utah. One of his goals is to gain more knowledge regarding ways to improve the student experience on campus and contribute to the continued success of Utah State University. Dr. Dee is a prominent member of the National Academic Advising Association. He is also affiliated with civic organizations like The Navajo Tribe and the United Family Advocates Action Coalition and volunteers with local causes.
In light of his success thus far, Mr. Dee received a New Advisor of the Year Award from Utah State University for the 2023-2024 academic school year. He also received an Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences Master’s Scholar of the Year Award. Mr. Dee attributes much of his good fortune to his resilience and expertise in social and human services, retention, and student advising, recognizing the relevancy of being able to relate to students and provide support. In the coming years, he intends to significantly impact the Utah State University system, secure an administrative role within the statewide system, and advocate more effectively for the Blanding campus.
