Dr. Tareef Hayat Khan, associate professor of the practice at Prairie View A&M University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in architecture and education.

With nearly three decades of experience, Dr. Khan has established a successful career in architecture and education. Since 2018, he has excelled as an associate professor of the practice at Prairie View A&M University and has worked as a freelance architect since 1997. His prior experience includes serving as an associate professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Johor from 2010 to 2018 and as an assistant professor at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 1996 to 2010. Throughout his career, he has supervised five doctoral students, eight Master of Philosophy students, over fifty Master of Architecture research theses, and more than one hundred Bachelor of Architecture theses. In addition, he is a polyglot singer and accomplished Sarode player. In 2015, he released a vocal album in Malaysia featuring 12 songs in five languages, with several songs tuned by him and one written by him. He has also contributed his time as a former member of the Council of International Buildings from 2004 to 2014 and supports various charities, including Forum 86 USA.

Dr. Khan laid a solid educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Architecture from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1995, a Master of Architecture from KU Leuven in Belgium in 2000, a master’s degree in artificial intelligence from KU Leuven in 2001, and a PhD in architecture from The University of Hong Kong in 2008. Since 2010, he has actively contributed to research, producing over 100 publications and around 50 conference proceedings. His scholarly accomplishments include authoring three solo books, editing two, and co-authoring seven additional books with his students. Reflecting on his career, he takes great pride in supporting students who faced academic or personal challenges, guiding them to reach their full potential and achieve impressive results.

Dr. Khan attributes his success to his parents, who encouraged him to pursue architecture, his influential teachers, and the students whose engagement has fueled his own growth and learning. Looking ahead, he is committed to mentoring the next generation of architects, with a key focus on nurturing talented individuals who can carry forward his teaching philosophy. He aspires to leave a lasting legacy through his protégés, ensuring that his contributions to architecture education continue to make an impact beyond his own career. Additionally, Dr. Khan envisions developing a structured framework for new educators, aimed at helping them navigate the nuances of studio instruction and fostering a more transparent and effective learning environment.
