Victor M. Renteria, Mathematics Teacher at the El Paso Independent School District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in secondary education.

Drawing upon more than four decades of industry experience, Mr. Renteria has demonstrated leadership and versatility in his field as a teacher of mathematics at the El Paso Independent School District in Texas, a role he has held since 1993. Serving the El Paso region his entire career, he commenced his profession as a teller at El Paso Savings and Loan from 1975 to 1977, later serving as a production and testing technician at GUS Manufacturing from 1977 to 1982. Thereafter, he acted as a production and test supervisor at Rockwell International from 1983 to 1985, having subsequently been self-employed for five years between 1985 and 1990. Delving into education, he served as a substitute teacher for the El Paso Independent School District from 1990 to 1992.

Mr. Renteria boasts over 600 Continuing Professional Development hours from sessions provided by the El Paso Independent School District. To prepare for his career, he attended the University of Texas at El Paso, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1973, a Master of Science in industrial engineering in 1976, and a Master of Business Administration in 1979. While studying toward his bachelor’s degree, he twice served as president of the Gamma Gamma chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, where he was also recognized as an International Honors Historian. He is a certified teacher in the state of Texas, as well as a certified educator of Near Pod User and Microsoft.

Equally passionate about his community, Mr. Renteria has been a partner of the Special Olympics in Colorado Springs, Colorado, since 1996, having also been a partner of the U.S. Olympic Team in Colorado Springs during that time. From 2006 to 2010, he also served as a member of the Parental Task Force. Likewise, from 1992 to 2008, he served as the engineering content instructor for the summer Texas pre-engineering program at the University of Texas at El Paso.

Maintaining affiliation with several organizations and societies, Mr. Renteria is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the University of Texas at El Paso Alumni Association, the Tau Kappa Epsilon Alumni Association and the International Society of Technicians in Education. Likewise, he has been a member of the Mathematical Association of America and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

As a testament to his success, Mr. Renteria has been named the National Honor Roll’s Outstanding Teacher every year since 2004. Likewise, he recently received a 25 Year Service Pin in 2018. He has been selected for inclusion in the seventh and eighth editions of Who’s Who in American Education and the 59th and 60th editions of Who’s Who in America. In his spare time, he enjoys weightlifting, jogging, collecting records and rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia, and practicing karate.
