Robert E. Moses, Principal at Simon Youth Graduation Academy at Indianapolis Public Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.

With more than 20 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Moses has excelled as the principal of the Simon Youth Graduation Academy at Indianapolis Public Schools, formerly known as the Simon Youth Academy at Circle Center, since 2018. In this position, he is focused on developing curricula, coaching staff and students alike, and supervising administrative matters relating to licensing and insurance. He began his career with Indianapolis Public Schools as a science teacher between 1998 and 2001, during which time he was notably presented with the Top Ten Teacher Award and the Teacher of the Year Award from the Coleman Middle School and the aforementioned school district. Furthermore, Mr. Moses was also appointed by Indianapolis Public Schools as a magnet program coordinator between 2000 and 2003 and the interim assistant principal between 2003 and 2004.

Soon thereafter, Mr. Moses found success with the Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana, for whom he became the founding principal of Indianapolis Metropolitan High School from 2004 to 2008. He was subsequently appointed as the chief of school operations by Goodwill Education Initiatives Inc. between 2008 and 2010. He further served as the director of the Excel Center for the Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana from 2010 to 2014, during which time he promoted many exceptional members of his staff into leadership positions. Moreover, Mr. Moses was significantly involved in expanding Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana from one location to 16 sites across the state in a tenure he defines among the highlights of his career.

Returning to Indianapolis Public Schools in 2015, Mr. Moses worked as the dean of students until 2017 and as an assistant principal until 2018. He also offered his wealth of knowledge to students at Martin University as an adjunct professor from 2015 to 2023. Likewise, he has been a dedicated member and officer of his church over the past two decades, reflecting his commitment to leadership in both his personal and professional endeavors. Mr. Moses is additionally affiliated with such organizations as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the Indiana Principals Association, and Kappa Delta Pi.

To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Moses initially pursued an education at Alcorn State University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in agriculture education in 1984. He concluded his studies at Mississippi State University in 1988, graduating with a Master of Education in agriculture education and extension. Following these academic accomplishments, Mr. Moses obtained his professional educator’s licensure as a building-level administrator and instructor from the Indiana Office of Educator Licensing and Development in 2008 and 2011, respectively.

Harboring a deep-rooted passion for teaching, Mr. Moses was greatly inspired by his mother, a single parent who always prioritized education for her children, going as far as returning to school to earn her degree and thrive as a teacher herself. As a testament to his stellar achievements, he was recognized with the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Center for Leadership Development in 2011. Looking toward the future, he hopes to shift his attention toward consulting and opportunities to mentor both educators and administrators. Mr. Moses is also aiming to enjoy a well-deserved retirement while continuing to address the needs of the academic community.
