Kelley Kenney, professor and founding director of the higher education graduate program at DeSales University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.

With four decades of experience to her credit, Dr. Kenney has established herself in the field of academia, specializing in education, counseling, and consulting services. She currently excels as the owner, founder, and consultant at Dr. Kelley R. Kenney Higher Education Consultant and Coach, a role she has held since 2024. Additionally, she is the founder and director of the Higher Education Graduate at DeSales University, where she has served since 2019. In these roles, she directs a graduate program in higher education, preparing individuals to work in various facets of the field, and is responsible for the administrative and operational functions of two Master of Education programs, two post-master’s certificates, and a graduate certificate in higher education. She is also in charge of marketing, recruiting, and admitting graduate students, as well as supervising them throughout their two years in the program. Additionally, he hires adjunct instructors and administrative leaders in the higher education profession, teaches in the program, and develops partnerships with colleges and universities where students undertake internships.

Dr. Kenney’s earlier roles include serving as a professor and program coordinator at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania from 2000 to 2011, and as a clinical faculty member at the University Counseling Center for 17 years. She has also held professorships at The Johns Hopkins University, Antioch University, and Lehigh University. An accomplished author and scholar, she has co-authored and published several chapters and scholarly papers, presenting her academic work since 1985. She is also affiliated with various professional organizations, including the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the American College Personnel Association, the American Counseling Association, and the National Coalition Building Institute. In light of her impressive undertakings, she has received several prestigious accolades, including the Diamond Honoree from the American College Personnel Association in 2019, and the Robert H. Schaffer Award for Academic Excellence as a Graduate Faculty Member from Region II of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. She is also recognized as a Fellow of the American Counseling Association and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi.

Laying a solid foundation for her future success, Dr. Kenney earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and human relations from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in 1980, followed by a Doctor of Medicine in counseling psychology from Temple University in 1984. She then obtained a Doctor of Education in counselor education and supervision, with a specialization in higher education and human development, from The George Washington University in 1992. She also holds several certifications from The Catholic University of America in College Student Personnel in higher education, human development, and marital and family therapy. She takes great pride in being named a Fellow of the American Counseling Association and receiving the Diamond Honoree award from the American College Personnel Association. She attributes her success to her tenacity and perseverance, earning a reputation for responsibility and commitment to her work. In the coming year, she will begin her transition into consulting and coaching work, retiring after 40 years in higher education to focus on offering her services to professionals in the field.
