Kelley Kenney, Higher Education Consultant and Coach at Dr. Kelley R. With four decades of experience to her credit, Dr. Kenney has established herself in the field of academia, specializing in counseling and higher education. She currently excels as a higher education consultant and coach. Prior to her recent retirement she was the founding director and professor of the Higher Education Graduate Program at DeSales University, where she served since 2019. In these roles, she directed a graduate program in higher education, preparing graduate students to work in various facets of the field, and was responsible for the administrative and operational functions for two Master of Education programs, two post-master’s certificates, and a graduate certificate in higher education. She was also in charge of marketing, recruiting, and admitting graduate students, as well as supervising them throughout their two years in the program. Additionally, she hired adjunct instructors, taught courses in the program, and developed partnerships with colleges and universities where students completed internships.

Dr. Kenney’s earlier roles include serving as a professor and program coordinator/director of the Higher Education Graduate Program from 2000 to 2019, and as a clinical professor of counseling for the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services from 1984 to 2000 at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. She has also served as an adjunct and affiliate faculty member at George Washington University, Reading Area Community College, Chestnut Hill College, Lehigh University, The Johns Hopkins University, Antioch University-Seattle, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. An accomplished scholar, she has presented at numerous professional conferences and authored and co-authored scholarly papers, book chapters and two books during her 40 years in academia. She has also been affiliated with various professional organizations, some of these include the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the American College Personnel Association, the American Counseling Association. In light of her impressive undertakings, she has received several prestigious accolades, including the distinction as a Diamond Honoree from the American College Personnel Association in 2019, the Robert H. Schaffer Award for Academic Excellence as a Graduate Faculty Member from Region II of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. She is also recognized as a Fellow of the American Counseling Association, and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi.

Laying a solid foundation for her future success, Dr. Kenney earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology of human relations from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in 1980, followed by a Masters of Education in counseling from Temple University in 1984. She then obtained a Doctor of Education in counselor education and supervision, with specializations in higher education, human development, and marital and family therapy from The George Washington University in 1992. She attributes her success to her tenacity and perseverance, earning a reputation for responsibility and commitment to her work. Now retired after 40 years in higher education her focus is on building a consulting business related to an array of issues related to higher education and on offering her coaching services to professionals in the field.
