Glenn “Mel” McQueary II, faculty member and professor of accounting at Houston Community College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academia and consulting services.

With nearly five decades of experience, Mr. McQueary has built a distinguished career in education and consulting, specializing in fraud work, accounting, enterprise resource planning and management systems, computer accounting systems, and security. He has been a professor of accounting at Houston Community College since 1994 and was chair of the accounting, business administration, business technology, and horticulture divisions from 2009 to 2015. He was a project consultant at Resources Global Professionals from 2000 to 2011, vice president and controller at PREFCO from 1997 to 1999, and held various audit and consulting roles at Pennzoil, Aramco Services Company, Coopers & Lybrand, The Coastal Corporation, United Technologies, and Cummins Inc. Additionally, he authored “How to comply with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977,” and is a textbook reviewer for financial accounting, managerial accounting, and workplace software and skills.

Laying a solid foundation for his future, Mr. McQueary pursued his education at the Miller College of Business at Ball State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1974 and a Master of Arts in Accounting in 1978. He holds several certifications, including Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Information Security Manager, Chartered Global Management Accountant, and Preparer Tax Identification Number. Additionally, he is a member of various professional organizations, including the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Houston Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He has also served as a board member and treasurer for the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, a delegate at the Texas Democratic Convention, a precinct committee chair for the Democratic Party, and an audit committee member for two credit unions.

In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. McQueary has been honored with the Program Coordinator Award and Instructor of the Year from Houston Community College in 2013 and 2014. He also received the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award from the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the NISOD Excellence Award from the University of Texas at Austin. He attributes his success to his strong work ethic and the passion and joy his work brings him. In the coming years, he is determined to continue teaching and serving his students to the best of his ability. Outside of his professional endeavors, he enjoys traveling and is an avid collector. His collection includes a 1948 portable TV, several wind-up phonographs, and newspapers, the oldest being a London Times issue from 1711.
