With over three decades of experience to her credit, Ms. Murray has carved out a distinguished career in health care. Currently excelling as an adjunct professor at Howard Community College since 2023, she guides her students in clinical and hospital settings, helping them assess and prioritize patient needs.

Ms. Murray has also been a registered nurse at the University of Maryland Medical Center since 1994. In this role, she is responsible for the forensics department, conducting exams for rape victims and meticulously documenting evidence to support potential legal actions. Additionally, she works as an end-of-life doula, providing emotional support and normalizing the end-of-life process for families with loved ones in hospice care. Her role involves offering comfort and guidance to families during challenging times, helping them navigate grief and loss.

Beyond her professional roles, Ms. Murray owns and operates Stitch Your Legacy, a community-based store established in 2023. This business serves as a hub for people to gather and create legacy projects, providing a meaningful way for loved ones to leave lasting legacies. Through her diverse roles in critical care, trauma, nursing home supervision, interventional radiology, and education, Ms. Murray continues to make significant contributions to the healthcare field and her community.

Ms. Murray takes pride in bringing a unique and comprehensive perspective to health care, drawn from her extensive experience across various roles. With 28 years in trauma nursing and supervisory roles in long-term care facilities, she has a deep understanding of the health care continuum. Her work in interventional radiology has provided her with valuable insights into hospital operations, diagnostics, and the operating room. Additionally, her training as a palliative care nurse and end-of-life doula enables her to offer compassionate care in end-of-life situations. A significant personal experience—the loss of her son in a surfing accident—has profoundly influenced her dedication to providing compassionate and empathetic care.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Murray pursued her education in nursing. She began with an associate degree in nursing from Anne Arundel Community College, which she completed in 1994. She furthered her academic efforts by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Notre Dame of Maryland University in 2009, laying a solid educational foundation for her future success. Staying actively connected to the health care and business communities, she is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the Chamber of Commerce.

Ms. Murray attributes her success to her dedication to her purpose. Looking ahead, she envisions her enterprise, Stitch Your Legacy, promoting a sense of community through holistic practices. She plans to organize events that foster peace of mind and encourage well-being. Additionally, she is committed to continuing the education and support of communities in end-of-life discussions.

Ms. Murray advises aspiring professionals to remember that it is a gift to care for someone in their time of need. She emphasizes that it’s not just a job but an honor to be with someone during their vulnerable times. By viewing the role as an honor, professionals can become the best patient advocates and learn everything necessary to excel, with everything else falling into place.
