Prior to this, she served as a teacher in the Pomona Unified School District for 14 years, where she honed her teaching skills and contributed significantly to the school community. Additionally, she has served as a substitute teacher for 15 years. 

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Fleming pursued an education at California State University, Fullerton, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in child and adolescent studies with minors in Spanish and African ethnic studies. She continued her academic efforts at Grand Canyon University, obtaining a Master of Science in elementary education in 2013 and, later, a specialist degree in K-12 education in 2024.

Ms. Fleming has also demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement, serving as president of the senior living center Piedmont Senior Tower from 2017 to 2021. Her dedication to community service has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from President Obama in 2019 and an evangelist certificate from her church. 

Ms. Fleming attributes her success to the unwavering encouragement and support she received from her family and friends. Her passion for education is deeply rooted in her family’s legacy, as both her parents and grandmother were teachers. She believes that showing love, compassion, and understanding to both students and parents is key to effective teaching. By making an effort to understand a student or parent’s background, she believes teachers can better address their unique needs and help them improve. 

Throughout her career, Ms. Fleming’s most notable achievement has been her unwavering dedication to teaching and mentoring students. Looking ahead, she aspires to explore her love for entertainment by singing and acting in various theaters over the next five years. She is also currently pursuing a specialist degree in K-12 education at Grand Canyon University. Upon completing this degree, her goal is to become an online professor, continuing to share her knowledge and passion for education with a broader audience.
