Dr. H. Steve Leslie, Assistant Professor of Business Communication at Arkansas State University Neil Griffin College of Business and a Consultant at HSL Leadership and Management Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business communication and management.

With more than 20 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Leslie currently excels as an assistant professor, researcher, and instructor of business communication at the Arkansas State University Neil Griffin College of Business as well as a consultant with HSL Leadership and Management Consultant. Prior to these positions, he was active in the Arkansas State University Neil Griffin College of Business as a communication instructor from 2008 to 2013, an academic technology specialist from 2008 to 2013, the interim director of the ASU ITTC Faculty Center from 2013 to 2015, and a communication studies instructor from 2013 to 2015. He previously served in a number of roles with the NCB Insurance Company between 2003 and 2006, including as a regional sales manager, a regional sales director, and a distribution manager. Dr. Leslie began his career working for three years as a science and mathematics teacher at Knox College in Jamaica before shifting his attention to the fields of retail banking, bank assurance, and corporate banking for nearly 15 years.

To support his professional ambitions, Dr. Leslie earned a diploma for Church Teachers’ College at The University of the West Indies in 1991, a Bachelor of Applied Science in business administration and management at The University of the West Indies in 1996, a Master of Business Administration at The University of Manchester in 2002, a Master of Science in information systems and e-commerce and a Master of Arts in communication at Arkansas State University in 2008, a specialist diploma in community college education and administration from Arkansas State University in 2014, and a Doctor of Education in higher education leadership from Arkansas State University in 2017. Attributing his success to his refusal to settle, his visionary mindset, his steadfast desire to help others, his unshakable faith, and the values instilled in him within his education-focused family environment, he was presented with multiple accolades from Arkansas State University, including the Dr. Eugene W. Smith Research Fellowship in 2017, a Citizenship Award in 2019, a Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award from 2021 to 2022, a Research Grant from 2022 to 2023, and The Excellence in Diversity Award in 2024. However, he is most proud of his efforts as a family man and father to three wonderful children, who continue to serve as his core motivation. In the coming years, Dr. Leslie hopes to dedicate more funding to his family’s scholarship benefitting students at Knox College while devoting his attention to consulting for small businesses.
