Dr. Hendrix boasts nearly 50 years of esteemed tenure at the nexus of health care and education. As the owner and primary curriculum specialist at DH Consulting since 2004, she crafts specialized curriculums for health care training programs. With over 15 years of involvement at East Los Angeles College, she served in various instructional capacities, including associate faculty member within the Allied Health Department and associate professor within the HIT Program, where she directed programs such as the Health Information Technology for Economic Clinical Health Program and the Los Angeles Healthcare Competencies to Careers Consortium Health Occupations grant from 2008 to 2024.

Before her academic career, Dr. Hendrix managed her Scholastic Minds Childcare Center, offering care for infant to kindergarten-age students. As the former dean of administration and student services at St. Francis Career College from 2006 to 2008 and assistant dean at Charles R. Drew University College of Science and Health from 2000 to 2006, she exhibited unwavering dedication to education and a passion for fostering knowledge acquisition. She was also recognized as Educator of the Year, and holds memberships with AHIMA, the California Association for the Education of Young Children, and the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education.

Rooted in her academic journey, Dr. Hendrix’s academic background includes an associate degree in early education and child development from West Los Angeles College in 1984, a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 1992, and a Master of Education in curriculum and teaching from the same institution in 1996. She culminated her educational pursuit with a doctorate in education, with an emphasis on technology, from Walden University in 2010. Outside academia, she channels her parents’ influence by contributing to various charitable organizations and volunteering with young children through her church. As she looks ahead, she aims to expand her consulting work and embark on new travel adventures while authoring a book addressing racism and skin color for young audiences.
