James Aller, associate dean and associate professor at Georgia Southwestern State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in higher education.

With 30 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Aller has excelled at Georgia Southwestern State University as an assistant professor from 2018 to 2023, director of the Master of Business Administration program from 2022 to 2023, and associate dean of the business graduate programs and associate professor since 2023. He began his career as vice president of human resources at 84 Lumber Company from 1994 to 1998. He worked as a divisional employee relations manager at Home Depot from 1998 to 2003. He continued his career as the director of human resources at Pep Boys from 2005 to 2009. At Walmart, he contributed as regional director of human resources in 2009, division senior human resources director from 2010 to 2014, western divisional director of human resources of small format business from 2014 to 2015, and regional human resources director and business partner from 2015 to 2017.  

Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Aller pursued an education at Marietta College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in business in 1992. He continued his academic efforts at La Roche University, obtaining a Master of Science in human resources management and services in 1995. He studied human resources at Carnegie Mellon University before concluding his studies at the University of Texas at Tyler, graduating with a PhD in human resources development and executive change management in 2017.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Aller has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He found success with his written works “Reshaping Education for Third World Countries,” “Maintaining Relationships through Social Media and the Way Forward,” and “Employee International Green Behavior in Public Sector Organizations.” Additionally, he volunteered with LA Conservation.

In addition to his primary vocation, Dr. Aller remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the Society of Human Resources Management, the Academy of Human Resources Development, and the Texas Retailing Association. He sat on the advisory committee at the University of Houston-Downtown’s School of Retail and presented at the Pentecost University of Ghana and Western Carolina University.

In light of his impressive undertakings, Dr. Aller has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was recognized for faculty excellence and advising by Georgia Southwestern State University in 2023. He was presented with the Team Leader – Walmart NPAC Business Case Award, the Team Leader – Quality Process Improvement Award from Carnegie Mellon University, the Mock Collective Bargaining Leadership Award from La Roche University, and was a seven-time recipient of the Silver Coin Award from Georgia Southwestern State University.
