Dr. Mark A. Buckwalter, assistant professor of criminal justice at Saint Francis University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in higher education.
With over 30 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Buckwalter has excelled as an assistant professor at Saint Francis University since 2019. He began his career as a mental health probation officer for Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, for four years. He established himself as a federal agent for the United States Probation Office from 1995 to 2018. At The Pennsylvania State University, he found success as an adjunct instructor from 2014 to 2018. He was active as a professor at Kutztown University from 2018 to 2019.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Buckwalter pursued an education at Millersville University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. He continued his academic efforts at Villanova University, obtaining a Master of Science in organizational leadership. He concluded his studies at Pennsylvania Western University, California, graduating with a PhD in criminal justice.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Buckwalter has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He sat on the community relations board of Brick County, Pennsylvania. At Saint Francis University, he sat on the athletics advisory board and was a member of the faculty senate. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association and the Law Enforcement Action Partnership.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Dr. Buckwalter has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was recognized as volunteer of the year at FCI Loretto by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and was presented with the Francis the Builder Award by Saint Francis University in 2022 and 2023. In the immediate future, he aspires to write and publish a book.
