Mary Ann Simpson, a second-grade teacher at Chicago Public Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in teaching, grant writing, and education mentoring.

With 45 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Simpson has excelled at Chicago Public Schools as a teacher since 1979, and a second-grade teacher since 2024. She worked as a contracted consultant and grant writer at the Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative from 2010 to 2011. She established herself as the owner of Simpson Consulting Services LLC from 2011 to 2012 and of Simpson MA Consulting Services from 2019 to 2020. She was active as a literacy enrichment teacher at CPS Mariano Azuela Elementary School from 2022 to 2023.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Simpson pursued an education at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in 1979. She continued her academic efforts at Chicago State University, graduating with a master’s degree in general administration in 2003. She concluded her studies at Walden University, completing coursework towards a PhD in general administration. She holds her teaching certification from the State Board of Education.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Simpson has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She contributed to the Needle Committee Group with the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation. In light of her impressive undertakings, she has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She received numerous donations on behalf of the nonprofit organizations she has consulted for, including $1 million for the Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative, $200,000 for Second Change Recovery, and other donations for the Katherine Adult Day Care Center, the Delta Regional Community Services Outreached Network, Jones Affordable Housing Inc., and many others. In the immediate future, she intends to continue working as a Literacy Enrichment Teacher at Chicago Public Schools until she retires.
