With over two decades of experience in the fields of education and counseling, Ms. Ervin has established herself as a prominent figure in her profession. Since 2014, she has excelled as a school counselor at Burke County Public Schools, leveraging her expertise to positively impact the lives of students. Before assuming this role, she dedicated a decade to serving as a licensed clinical mental health counselor, both within Burke County Public Schools and in private practice settings, and as a school counselor for Iredell-Statesville Schools for five years. Prior to her counseling career, she contributed significantly to the education sector as a high school self-contained classroom teacher. Additionally, her passion for guiding others extended to her role as an associate pastor, providing spiritual support and leadership within her community.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Ervin laid a solid foundation for her career by earning her bachelor’s degree from Gardner-Webb University in 1997. Subsequently, she pursued advanced education at Appalachian State University, where she achieved dual master’s degrees in school administration in 2009 and school counseling in 2002. Continuously dedicated to her growth, Ms. Ervin furthered her expertise by acquiring certifications, including a license as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor.
For a decade, Ms. Ervin has contributed significantly to her community as a Therapeutic Foster Parent She has also served as a delegate for the North Carolina School Counselor Association and has been actively involved in homeless charities in Burke County. In addition to her primary vocation, Ms. Ervin remains affiliated with various organizations related to her areas of expertise, including the American School Counselor Association, the North Carolina School Counselor Association, the American Counselor Association, and the North Carolina Association for Educators. She is currently serving as a board member of the Burke County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and the Burke County Board of Health.
In light of her remarkable achievements, Ms. Ervin has received several accolades, including the Best of Burke Counselor Award in 2022 and a Scholarship Award from the NAACP in 1990. She is currently recognized among the Top 5 Runners Up for the Best of Burke Counselor Award in 2024. As she looks to the future, Ms. Ervin plans to retire and dedicate herself fully to writing and publishing. Her ultimate goal is to impact all those she encounters positively, emphasizing unity and collaboration for the greater good of humanity.
