Prior to this, he earned a Master of Arts in English (Oxon.) from the University of Oxford in 1974, and a Bachelor of Arts in classical and ancient studies from Princeton University, graduating summa cum laude in 1972. A former Marshall Scholar, his academic pursuits also led him to the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome, where he further honed his expertise in classical studies in 1971.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hatch has held a series of influential positions, demonstrating his expertise and versatility. Currently serving as principal at Josiah Hatch, LLC since 2012, he has also contributed significantly to academia as an adjunct professor of global economic affairs at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies since 2011. Before that, from 2011 to 2023, he served as global counsel.

Mr. Hatch’s extensive legal experience includes serving as a partner at esteemed law firms such as Ducker, Montgomery, Lewis & Bess, P.C., where he worked from 2002 to 2012. Prior to that, he co-established the Denver office for Greenberg Traurig LLP from 2000 to 2002, concurrently serving as a partner at Greenberg Traurig LLP. He was a partner at Freeborn & Peters LLP from 1998 to 1999 and held the position of special counsel at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP from 1985 to 1997. Additionally, he has made notable contributions to the cultural and academic spheres, holding positions at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, where he served as assistant museum director and director of public and academic programs from 1978 to 1985. Prior to that, he was special assistant to the chairman at the U.S. International Trade Commission from 1975 to 1977 and served as a speechwriter at the Federal Energy Administration from 1974 to 1975.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Hatch has been actively involved in career-related roles, including serving as an acting degree director at the Department of Global Economic Affairs at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies from 2021 to 2022. He was also an adjunct professor at the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver in 2017, and an adjunct professor at the Sturm College of Law, University of Denver from 2000 to 2004. His diverse background and wealth of experience underscore his dedication to both legal scholarship and educational advancement, making him a respected authority in his field. Mr. Hatch has been awarded high ratings for his legal work in peer reviews sponsored by Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, and Martindale-Hubbell Peer Ratings, including being designated as the Securities Litigation Lawyer of the Year in 2023 by Best Lawyers in Colorado.
