Vivian Hamilton Dawkins, PhD, RN, clinical professor of Nursing at Prairie View A&M University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing education.
Dr. Dawkins is a distinguished professional with over five decades of experience in nursing care. She has served many prestigious organizations as a health educator, including as an assistant professor of nursing at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi between 2004 and 2006, as an associate chief nurse for education for the Center of Professional Education through The Methodist Hospital between 2007 and 2011, as the nursing program director at Coleman College for Health Sciences at Houston Community College between 2012 and 2013, as a nurse educator at Baylor College of Medicine Medical Center between 2013 and 2014, and as the coordinator of the Veterans Training Program at The Menninger Clinic between 2011 and 2014. She presently contributes her expertise to Prairie View A&M University as the clinical professor of nursing, where she has thrived since 2006.
Attributing her success to the unwavering support of her family, Dr. Dawkins utilized this asset to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. She subsequently obtained a PhD in nursing from the Texas Women’s University in 2001. Additionally, she is a certified spiritual director. When she is not working, she dedicates her time and attention to quilting and intends to open a quilting business after retirement.
