Ms. Young embarked on her career in education in 2005 and has been an unwavering educator in the Alief Independent School District since. Specializing in special education, she addresses behaviors and supports learning-disabled and special needs students in her role as an autism coach. Ms. Young’s extensive background, spanning over 12 years, enriches her dedication as a mathematics educator and interventionist. Since 2022, she has also served as an autism-in-class support coach.
Prepared with a Bachelor of Science in agricultural education from Tarleton State University and a master’s degree in education in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix, Ms. Young holds certifications in special education, physical education, and English as a second language. She is an active member of the Association of Texas Professional Educators and Autism Speaks. Recognized for her excellence, Ms. Young was named Teacher of the Year for the 2014-2015 academic year and received grants and scholarships from ATPE.
A significant highlight in Ms. Young’s career includes the successful implementation of an intervention program for a child with severe behavioral challenges. Beyond her professional endeavors, she has volunteered with the Alief Special Olympics and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo since 2005. Looking ahead, Ms. Young envisions retiring and is contemplating administrative roles within the school district.
