Hailing from over 25 years of experience in his chosen field, Mr. Schoales has distinguished himself through his role at The Creative School, a college of Toronto Metropolitan University specializing in research, education and innovation across various media and communications mediums. Specializing in public policy research and creative industry development, Mr. Schoales has also served as a senior policy advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries since 2007. Long dedicated to the public sector, he previously worked as a senior economist with the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation, and as a senior policy and program advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, beginning in 2000.
Mr. Schoales initially studied philosophy and psychology at Trent University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1992. Having cultivated a fascination with mathematics and ethics during this time, he subsequently attended the Schulich School of Business at York University, where he graduated with a Master of Business Administration in 1994. Following this accomplishment, he went to work in the public policy sphere. Outside of his primary endeavors, he has also become a published author with the release of “What Is Ethics?: A Brief Guide to Better Understand Ourselves, Our Interactions with Others, and the Major Issues Facing Society” in 2021. Looking toward the future, Mr. Schoales looks forward to a growing demand for products, knowledge and practitioners in the creative industry, and anticipates a greater focus on research in his area of expertise in the coming years.
