Ellen Mary Zimmerli, reading specialist at St. John Vianney Regional School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in reading.

With 20 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Zimmerli has excelled as a reading specialist at St. John Vianney Regional School since 2022. She began her career as a teacher at Sacred Heart School from 1989 to 1990. She garnered a stellar reputation as a teacher at the Nursery School of the Church of the Mediator from 1990 to 1991 and as a pre-K teacher at the Nursery School of the Jewish Community Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1991. She served as head teacher at Lehigh University Child Care Center from 1992 to 1994. At Chapel Hill Arts and Music in Progress, she worked as a preschool teacher and music specialist from 1994 to 1996.

Ms. Zimmerli continued her career as an elementary music teacher and teacher assistant at the Montessori Community School of Durham, North Carolina from 1995 to 1997 and as a music teacher and kindergarten assistant at Grace Montessori School from 1997 to 1998. She contributed to Lehigh Conservatory as a flute, recorder, and piano instructor from 1997 to 2011 before transitioning to the role of freelance writer and ancillary author at Cengage Learning from 2011 to 2012. She found success as a music teacher at Lehigh University Child Care Center from 2006 to 2019, the Diocese of Allentown, Pennsylvania from 2017 to 2020, and at St. John Vianney Regional School, where she also taught art, from 2020 to 2022. She was active as an adjunct professor of reading and English as a second language at Lehigh Carbon Community College since 2009.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Zimmerli pursued an education at Moravian University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education in 1988. She continued her academic efforts at Lehigh University, graduating with a Master of Education in reading specialist in 1998. She holds a Pennsylvania instructional I certification and an elementary education K-6 certification from the United Latino Students Association.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Zimmerli has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She held the role of choir director of the Young Musicians Society, and was a member of the St. Theresa Choir, the Cathedral Choir, and the Christ Church Choir. In addition to her primary vocation, she remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the Suzuki Association of America and MusikGarten and found success as an author of two texts related to analytical reading.
