Lisa R. Chun, Professor and Associate Dean at California Health Sciences University and National Faculty Member at NBOME, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine.
With 29 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Chun has excelled as a professor at California Health Sciences University since 2022. She began her career as a physician and owner of Lisa R. Chun, D.O., P.C. from 1993 to 2001 and at Kauai Osteopathic, Inc. from 2002 to 2010. She contributed at the A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine as an adjunct faculty in 2011, assistant professor from 2011 to 2013, and director and pre-doctoral teaching fellow in osteopathic principles and practices from 2011 to 2013. She garnered a stellar reputation as an associate professor at the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine from 2013 to 2014.
At Campbell University’s Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Chun held multiple roles including associate professor, chair of the department of osteopathic manipulative medicine, founding residency program director, and neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine plus-one resident from 2014 to 2017. She found success as an associate professor in the department of clinically applied science education at the University of the Incarnate Word from 2017 to 2018. She established herself as a member of the national faculty at NBOME in 2013. At the California Health Sciences University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, she was active as associate dean of osteopathic clinical education from 2018 to 2022 and assistant dean of osteopathic clinical education and simulation since 2020.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Chun pursued an education at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine where she earned a Bachelor of Science in natural sciences in 1987 and a Doctorate of Osteopathy in 1991. She continued her academic efforts at SBH Health System, completing an internship in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine in 1992 and a residency in 1994. She concluded her studies at the University of New England, graduating with a Master’s in Education Leadership in 2014.
Dr. Chun holds certificates in advancing women in leadership, osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and as a physician executive. She was an osteopathic health policy fellow at the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Dr. Chun has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She donated her time and effort to Habitat for Humanity International.
In addition to her primary vocation, Dr. Chun remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She held executive and leadership roles in several organizations including the Educational Council on Osteopathic Principles, the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, the National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators, Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of California, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American Academy of Osteopathy.
