With over two decades of experience to her credit in media and communications, Ms. Dunn-Square has found success in her latest role at Bowie State University, where she lectures on all aspects of public relations, including the writing of press releases, newsletters, branding, and social media. Having previously served as an adjunct professor of communications at the university, and as a marketing specialist and writer for several publications and news outlets, including The Advocate, Clear Channel Radio and the Killeen Daily Herald, Ms. Dunn-Square is most proud to have parlayed her professional background into a new career path, and to have done so at a relatively young age. Well-regarded for her accomplishments, she has been noted by Bowie State as an Outstanding Young Professor of the Year, as well as with the Inaugural Distinguished Teaching Award. Likewise, she qualified as a finalist for the Outstanding Public Relations Educator of the Year.
Ms. Dunn-Square initially studied mass communications at Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts. Following this achievement, she went on to attend Bowie State, from which she earned a Master of Arts in organizational communications. To remain aware of developments in her field, she holds membership with the Public Relations Society of America, the Maryland Communication Association and the National Association of Black Journalists. In accounting for her overall success, Ms. Dunn-Square largely credits the influence of her grandmother, who read to her every night and encouraged her to maintain a curious outlook as a child. Looking toward the future, she aspires to write a textbook on the subject of social media, and to continue rising through the field.
