Angela Parry-Hanson Kunadu, PhD, Senior Lecturer at University of Ghana, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in food science education.
With many years of experience to her credit, Dr. Kunadu has excelled as a senior lecturer at the University of Ghana since 2019, the chief executive officer and lead consultant for Safeforia Ltd. since 2020 and a postdoctoral research associate for Texas A&M University since 2023. Prior to these positions, she was active as a technical expert for quality and food safety and a qualms consultant for QSHE from 2012 to 2016, a research fellow for the University of Cambridge in 2017, and a lecturer on food science for the University of Ghana from 2013 to 2019. She previously served as a lecturer at Tshwane University of Technology in 2009, a research assistant at the University of Pretoria in 2009, a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Pretoria in 2010, and the deputy QEOSH manager for Algeria and West African Countries at the Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company from 2010 to 2013. Dr. Kunadu began her career as a research scientist at the Food Institute for CSIR from 2006 to 2007.
To support her professional ambitions, Dr. Kunadu pursued an education at the University of Alberta, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in cell biotechnology in 2003. She subsequently concluded her studies at the University of Pretoria, obtaining a Master of Science in food science in 2006 before graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in food science in 2009. Attributing her success to her mentorship and networking skills as well as the support of her family, she has been presented with numerous accolades over the years, including a Young Scientist Award from the International Union of Food Science and Technology, a Post Graduate Student of the Year Award from the South African Society of Dairy Technology in 2009, a Top Fellowship Award from the Cambridge-Africa Partnership for Research Excellence in 2016 and a Fellowship Award from the African Woman in Agriculture Research and Development from 2015 to 2017. In the coming years, Dr. Kunadu hopes to continue her research and make a greater impact in her field through her research and continued contributions to science and food safety.
